Options for getting 3 under 3 around?

I will soon have 3 under 3, eldest will be 2.10 when baby comes. I currently use a phil and teds, but as far as I know you cannot get a buggy board/3rd seat attched on them??

Options I am considering are:

  1. Continue with Phil and Teds and have baby in sling. Although winter baby so not sure how will manage in rain and very cold weather?

  2. Invest in a triple buggy, have seen the ABC/T3 jogger. But these are VVV heavy and expensive. Plus I don't know anyone who could recommend one of these to me?

  3. Never go anywhere.

  4. Buy eldest a scooter and hopefully he'll be good enough to keep up/stay with me? Hmm he also still gets very tired in the afternoon and would have visions of him not going any further.

WWYD?

My eldest does walk short distances, but I walk approxiamately 4-6 miles a day to go to groups or go into towm/friends houses etc. I don't think I can expect a 3 yo to be able to walk that far! Also the dawdling drives me insane.

Also if I did use option 1, my babies tend to get heavy quite quickly and I would probably struggle after 3/4 months. And the eldest would only be 3.2 so what would I do then?

I had my three eldest DC in the same time-frame as you. I used a double buggy, often with three DC in it. I also used a sling.

But honestly, I think you may have to rethink the 4-6 miles a day. My eldest was a fantastic walker (she could, and did, walk three or four miles at 18 months), but there is no way she and I could have managed that much at that age.

Good luck.

Thanks jeee, that's a very good point. I'll probably have to prioritise more and maybe not do as much in one day. I could probably keep it down to 4 miles a day. Just scared of not being able to get anywhere due to ds1 not keeping up/able to walk where we need/want to get too!? I still have a few months to get his staminar up more!

Don't have any experience of 3 under 3! But as regards a sling, we used one until ds was over 2. As long as you get the right kinds of slings then you should be able to carry - we used a stretchy wrap for the first 6 months and then an ergo and mei tai.

If you go on netmums there is a thread the same as yours with a few links to buggy boards that fit the P&T Smile

If you can't find it on netmums as its an old thread put buggy board to fit P&T in google and the thread should come up.

Thanks for the replies! I've seen a sling meet advertised where I live so will have to go and see them. I have 4 slings but have never quite got to grips with it. I do have a wrap stretchy one (need practice at doing it!), and a mei tei which i used once but ds2 always felt like he was falling off?! So I suppose I'll just need to buy a great big waterproof and off we go Smile

You should be able to sling any of your kids quite happily with a good sling. I look after 22mo twins and have a DD of my own who is 4, I've never used a buggy with any of them, they just get popped indiscrimately into slings when needed.

You could try Natural Mamas for sling advice.

My friend let me into a secret: the hood of a phil and teds can support the eight of a child.

It's got me through a few sticky spots, although the last time I tried it, both wheels punctured under the pressure. Grin

eight? weight

Cornonthecob · 18/09/2010 07:27

My 4 yr old sometimes sits above the front wheel of the p&t holding his brothers feet! Also with his scooter if he gets tired he'll put both feet on his scooter and holds onto the safety strap that hangs off the handlebar and I pull him along! Haven't tried him on the hood as I'm short & he'd prob block my view but another great idea! Lol

Good luck!

What about a double nipper with a buggy board?

LacyLeggins · 19/09/2010 09:56

or a double mclaren with buggy board? i have also seen older dc standing on top of the bar across the back that is used tp fold buggy down. i think this would only be ok for short distance though!
