hub2dee's first ever cloth nappy day

Well, not for me, but for munchkin: After so much chit chat, and procrastination, I've put a cloth nappy on dd !!!!!

I'm using a selection of nappies Gski lent us... (thanks BTW X)

First off:

10AM: Motherease Sandy's in a Rikki Xsm wrap....

Lovely and soft, nicer than dispie paper stuff... decent fit.

Noon - bugger. Went for a walk in the pram and sprung a leak. I didn't tuck the nappy 100% into the wrap at the back. Darn darn darn. Change of clothes. Also sheet in daycot.

OK, now she's in a TotsBots size1 with a Motherease Airflow Small.
Lovely and soft. Goes on easily. Aplix is easier than poppers for my big fingers.

The nappy had a sewn in booster thingy, with an additional fleecy material (ie. a sewn in booster plus sewn in liner...).. I've tried to do a vaguely sensible fold, but not sure I've done what best for containment for a girl...

Let's hope this one doesn't leak cos she's off shopping with dw in a baby bjorn, and the wrap was a tiny bit loose....

I think I need nappy lessons to make this work, LOL.

charleypops, are you sure its the seat he hates? My ds just hates to be put down at all, prefers Mammy's arms!

chipmonkey · 07/09/2005 11:46

Hub, have you got the message yet that I like fuzzi-bunz?

hub2dee · 07/09/2005 12:48

vkone · 07/09/2005 19:54

Just thought I'd intrude to say my DS loves his fuzzis, infact he cries and points at them when I take them off (cruel and heartless mummy, making him go nappiless)

I think you need a cutsey fancy name to cover the fact that their role in life is to contain sh*t, cod.

I mean, come on, cod, "Sh*tcatchers" doesn't have quite than ring to it, does it?

Have to agree that there are some odd nappy names out there lol.
Just wanted to say that I totally agree Hub with your message to CP to try cloth when you are ready, or you may be put off which would be a real shame. DD1 was 3 months before I did the 2 week ecobabes trial and 4 months before I got all the nappies I wanted. I haven't looked back, though I do unashamedly use disposables for holidays. DD2 went into cloth as soon as her stump came off on day five as I knew what I was doing this time. I was worried about the wrap rubbing before this despite getting kissaluvs with the pop down front precisely so she could wear them with her stump lol. Hope you are still well and haven't been put off yet

evansmummy · 09/09/2005 10:15

Just saw your pics, hub, made me cry, how cute you all are. Congratulations!!!!!!

Well done on the nappies, btw. Dh won't touch them with a barge pole, thought it was the Gallic in him, but seeing you getting stuck in, I'll have to find another excuse for him...

hub2dee · 09/09/2005 11:57

Not put off, Coop... but it does make you appreciate the (chemical containment aspects) of dispies ! I think dw would be happy to stick with dispies, but I hope a proper trial in maybe a few weeks /months will work out and we can find something we are happy with. I think I'll be looking again at the All in Ones which I kind of dismissed before... I think we'd probably find them less hassle, and I don't mind if they cost a bit more / take longer to dry.

Thanks, em.... I think to get the blokeys into cloth nappies you need to definitely find a system which fits really well and contains really well and is high on the absorbency ratings (ie. the holy nirvana of cloth nappies, LOL)... when they are too wet, when they leak pee or poo onto clothes and necessitate more changes of clothes etc. then I think men find them less interesting on a purely practical level IYSWIM.

My dh loves the cloth nappies now that we've used them for a while. The save us a fortune on disposables, there's less waste and ds3 has had fewer rashes than either of his brothers had in disposables.

starlover · 09/09/2005 20:46

hub... fuzzi bunz are quick to dry and just as easy as an all in one!
just stuff them all as soon as they are dry and use as and when!

chipmonkey · 09/09/2005 21:42

starlover, you and me are the fuzzibunz twins!

starlover · 09/09/2005 21:43

they should pay us commission!

starlover · 09/09/2005 21:43

roosmum uses them too

chipmonkey · 09/09/2005 21:46

triplets then!

maisiemog · 13/09/2005 20:44

Hi Hub, she's sooo cute and what lovely eyes. My ds rarely opened his for the first couple of months. People asked if he had any?
We had to do the express ebm formula thing at the start as well. It is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry tiring!! ZZZZZZZZZZZ!
