am using them atm, as my laundry pile is huuuuuuuuge and need to catch up there. but the dispoables keep bloomin leaking. its driving me nuts, and i'm not sure if its gonna increaser my laundry loads, as for 2 days now dd3 nappy has leaked onto my trousers. yuuuuk! they just cant seem to cope with breastfed/small solids baby poo.

Second child not nappy.

maisiemog · 03/09/2005 22:53

Whoah! Fast moving discussion. Post quickly becomes abstract.
Again, I am totally impressed Ameriscot, I love to hear of exteneded breastfeeding, it's so uncommon in the UK and treated with such suspicion.
We have had many leaky nappies both disposable and reusable, I just don't put them on properly it seems or they are the wrong size or I leave them too long or ds legs it before I can get the flipping thing fastened properly.
What is your secret Ameriscot?

maisiemog · 03/09/2005 22:53

Oh and as quickly as the conversation picked up, it died.

Ameriscot2005 · 03/09/2005 22:54

I don't think I have a secret. I haven't felt that it was rocket science. I just change them when they feel heavy,

BLANKfloozypuddingandpie · 03/09/2005 22:54

Telling Misdee how not to have leaky nappies. (as in the title of the thread)

misdee · 03/09/2005 22:59

I didn't think it was rocket science either Ameriscot, but the simplest of things can sometimes go awry.

maisiemog · 03/09/2005 23:00

Misdee I hope you're getting all that.

misdee · 03/09/2005 23:01

i've been changing about every 2 hours lately, even more some time!

Have you gone to clean up the mess?

serah · 03/09/2005 23:07

I use an average of 3 disposables a day with not one leak....

Maybe it's your child that is leaky Misdee???

Make really really sure that the little side ruffles are not tucked in at all. It only seems to make a big difference when they are tiny.

Have you got any clean wraps misdee - could you put one of those over the top. I used to put ds in a disp, then plastic pants (real cheapo ones like our mother's had to use) and then his clothes and then another pair of plastic pants and then into the sling. Because I really didn't want to be without the sling, or buy a spare one.

fqueenzebra · 04/09/2005 07:29

I think the consistency of br'food poo is so variable that some children present higher leakage risks than others....

My kids are ok in either disp or cloth, but my kids are quite skinny; I wonder if disps are generally cut better for skinny rather than plump babies (people like their babies to look lean rather than plump).

Lel1972 · 01/10/2005 22:01

we bought the Boots pull-ups once, and have never looked back - they LOOK exactly the same as Morrisons own brand, but morrisons leak at night - we haven't had a leak in a Boots pull-up yet, even at night, and my DD does some HUGE wees! also, they seem to be on a 3 for 2 promotion all the time! hth

misdee · 01/10/2005 22:02
