DD1 started in reception class just over a week ago on 2nd September.

She's loving it. She's been mornings only for the first few days and is due to go full days from Monday.

Anyway, I collected her yesterday and she was very lethargic, could hardly muster the energy for the ten minute walk home. She was a bit shivery and finally admitted her tummy felt funny. She had a rest, ate lunch nd then wanted to go to the park which we did, only to find that she was exhausted within minutes and had to be carried home (by me!). Gave her Calpol and she rallied again after another rest and ate two bowls of pasta for tea. I took her temp and it was 38.5 at that point. She went to bed an slept til midnight, had another dose of Calpol then came into our bed at 5am, very hot.

Her temp is still 38.5 but she has started being sick today too. :(

Oh the joys of school!

Just hoping that DD2 (6 months) doesn't get it. My fingers are crossed.

Reception year DS caught everything going and it seemed like every other week he was ill. Germs seem to like school Smile

I'm afraid they get everything going when they are new to it. I found that my DH got everything going once they started school whereas I was immune, being a teacher.

pointythings · 12/09/2010 18:23

Second that - except that mine got everything going in their first 18 months of nursery (worked F/T from when they were 6 months) so by the time they started school they had cast-iron immune system. Guess it's something they all have to go through, it's just a matter of when...
I wish I were a teacher sometimes - a lot of the times they bring it home without getting it, and lovingly give it to me.

messylittlemonkey · 12/09/2010 19:13

I thought DD's immune system might have been a bit tougher - she's been in pre school for 2.5 years, so well used to being with other children.

I used to be teacher so my immune system is pretty strong, but I've been feeling queasy all afternoon :(
