Grin

dd4 is becoming a lovely toddler. she chats away happily, sings to herself, and shouts 'look mummy look' at everything.

she calls me into the garden to look at things with her, and has good fun all the time.

she is a cheeky little terror and i adore this stage the best out of the 'baby years'.

today she has been wheeling her little trolly about and shouting 'Aaaallllvin' at the tv when the chipmunks dvd was on.

she tells me the girls are going to school and daddy is going to shop-shop for work.

i just want to snuggle her up all the time

I'm with you! I desperately want to keep my 21 month old just the way she is... hilarious, entertaining, and almost excrutiatingly cute. I wish there were a way to stretch out these months and exchange them for, say, the teenage years Wink

loopyloops · 10/09/2010 22:30

Oh, me too. DD isn't quite at the "look Mummy look" stage but she's just so adorable. The best things are dancing whenever a little snippet of music comes on, and when brushing her teeth because she just loves it. Oh, I kind of wish she were awake right now...

My very favourite time too! But it's a very long time since I've experienced my own toddler. She's 15 in a couple of weeks. Sad

Still, stretched it out, by being a childminder for 12 years! Grin DH used to call DD sponge head! Everything you say to them, they just take in so intensely. I used to love those funny little one to one chats I'd have with DD, about the most ridiculous of things. Just marvellous!

Teenagers may have their thousands of faults, but they are quite nice - trust me!

ilikeyoursleeves · 10/09/2010 22:31

I love love love my todder too! Toddler is nearly 3 and the other day I asked him if he'd like a bike for his birthday like what daddy has and he said 'but I'm too wee mummy!'. Awwww bless! Thinks all bikes are adult sized LOL.

He keeps telling me he loves me and I adore the way he goes up to old ladies in shops and tells them random things like the wheel of his car is sore and needs a doctor (when the wheel has fallen off LOL).

YUM YUM YUM.

Concordia · 10/09/2010 22:38

DD is great. she charges around putting dolls in and out of her pushchair and shouting things she likes like 'CAKE' or 'SWING' at random intervals. she's nearly 2.

Toddlers are the best!

My two year old went to bed dressed as Spiderman tonight. Grin

He loves to give me "kiss and a gaga," which is a kiss and a cuddle and then he tells me I'm a princess.

AngryPixie · 10/09/2010 22:56

DC3 is a scrumptious toddler too, 2.5yrs and I could eat him. In fact now he's out of nappies he's damn near perfect Grin

misdee · 11/09/2010 00:23

lol, dd4 inisted on going to bed with knickers OVER her nappy tonight. in fact she refused to go to bed until i had put them on.

she loves brushing her teeth. she lines up in the morning with the older girls to have her hair brushed.

she is just so funny. last week she was telling my dad off for stealing her chips. Grin

misdee, me too!!

I just think my littlie is ADORABLE and want to stop strangers in the street and say, "Have you noticed how cute she is?!"

I love her chat, she's so funny and cuddly and cute.

Today the rain was just ridiculous and yet dd's joy at wearing her wellies and carrying an umbrella for the first time was so infectious, love it!

And SHE'S POTTY TRAINED!!!!! I'm very excited about this. And like your LO misdee she's gone to bed with pants over her nappy, so cute!

BabyAnnabelle · 11/09/2010 09:09

Oh this makes me excited for when my baby (6 week old) is a todler. i thought it was all tantrums but this sounds really fun!

petisa · 12/09/2010 23:11

Oh yes I'm really really loving the toddler stage too! I've never laughed so much in my life. Smile I really miss my toddler atm though as I have a newborn, who is the cutest sweetest little bundle and I love feeding her and sniffing her head, but I keep getting really teary about missing dd1 and all the fun we normally have together Sad

TheCrackFox · 12/09/2010 23:18

I loved the toddler stage too. Initially I was dreading it as everyone talks about the "terrible twos" but I thought it was far, far easier than looking after a baby. Toddlers are hilarious and make you look at the world in a way you had completely forgotten about.

seaturtle · 13/09/2010 00:40

My DS is 28 months, and his latest thing is being "upside down!" Like the Ninky Nonk going up a tree. He's at the parroting stage. Produces ear-splitting screams followed by a softly spoken, "Stop screaming."

My friend has a 3 year old who told me all about what she does in the morning, like wake up, go to the toilet, have cake for breakfast. The latter her mum vigorously denies!

I want to freeze time at this stage. The twos aren't very terrible for me!.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 13/09/2010 01:04

Mine's 21 months and I just adore the hell out of her. She's just starting to be able to tell me about things that happened when I wasn't there; so this morning her Dad brought her downstairs, and she said "Hello Mummy! DeeDee sleeping". "Hi, love, yes you were sleeping, weren't you, did you have a nice sleep?" "Yeah!".

Or, after a two-year-old's birthday: "Did you enjoy the party?" "Yeah!" "What did you like best?" "Ummm...bubbles [serious nod]".

I realise this sounds very mundane if you don't have a toddler, but it's just adorable how eager she is to tell me things and how earnest she is. She treats me like a portable jukebox: "Beep-beep!" is The Wheels On The Bus, during which she requests special verses ("Daddy waah-waah? Yes?") and, oh dear, there's so much and I want to preserve her in amber.

SacharissaCripslock · 13/09/2010 01:18

After his bath tonight my 2 year old shot downstairs while I was gathering pyjamas - I found him in the garden with my DH and DS1 and he was wearing nothing but green wellies!! Grin So so cute running about wild. I am a horrible mummy - I took photos to embarass him when he's a teenager. Grin

The toddler stage is definitely the best. The way they just love and adore you so much and aren't afraid to show it - huge kisses and tight hugs!

shantishanti · 13/09/2010 21:34

Me too! She's a very little toddler yet, just starting to talk a bit, and delighted with the fact that she can get us to do what she wants by ASKING with WORDS!

The other day she woke up (in bed with us), rolled over, off the bed saying 'DOWN!' toddled over and grabbed her dressing gown and brought it over to me saying 'ON!'...then went to get her wellies...'ON!'...then toddled into the bathroom, climbed into the shower cubicle and danced around grinning with delight!

Toddlers are the best Grin. I had no idea how lovely it would be.

4plus1 · 13/09/2010 21:55

My ds4 is 26 mths. I'm at home on maternity leave with him and dd at the minute. And do you Know what the toddler love never gets old! This is the 4th time round for me doing animal sounds, nursery rhymes, body part naming etc. I just love every minute of this stage.

misdee · 13/09/2010 22:28

dd4 is asleep in bed, minus pj's as she stripped off, and has been 'reading' a first aid book before bed Grin she is nuts!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/09/2010 22:34

Yes me too! DS is 26 months and he is just scrumptious and adorable Grin

When he wakes up in the morning, I hear him yawning and stretching, and then he stands up in his cot and shouts 'Mummy, where are you?'. When I go in to get him out he says 'lovely sleep thank you Muumy, time a 'DS' to get up'

This evening I sang rock-a-bye baby with him on my knee after his bath, and he turned and put his little arms round my neck and hugged me so tight, it was so lovely!

Yesterday morning he appeared next to my side of the bed (DH got up with him) with the end of the toilet roll in his hand. 'DS wipe Mummy's bottom'. I absolutely howled with laughter, and then spent 5 minutes re-rolling the toilet roll!
