Dog in school playground not on lead....................

What do you think?

Took DD for her second day ay School.

A Dad was taking his son, (as you can imagine, with parents and prams, the path into school becomes very small) and he had a big Golden retriever with him, not on a lead.

Two little ones were scared as it brushed past them and mine were terrified.

I don't think he should bring the dog into the School grounds at all, but certainly not without a lead

What do you think?

I don't want my children to be scared going into School as I have had no problems so far

I thought most schools had a "no dogs" policy on school grounds...

I think he is selfish

and I would tell him to put his dog on a lead

Gobbledigook · 02/09/2005 12:38

I would be cross and would say something if it happened again.

Agree with Flamesparrow - is this allowed?

Do you think I should have a word with a teacher or Head?

I don't want to be a fusspot as we have only just started.

My other daughter (twins) is due to go next week to the School with a helper from her own SN School. Her first experiance of the School now, is a big dog and being petrified...not good!!

At ds1's school so many parents complained about dogs (on and off leads) that dogs are no longer allowed on school premises. There were so many irresponsible owners that IMHO it was just a matter of time before someone got hurt.

Just remembered

My friend is acting Deputy at the mo

Will defo mention it to her!

i think you should certainley complain to the school. Dogs should not be allowed on the grounds at all.

When we first got our pup I used to ewalk her to school with us on the mornings and stand near the car park with her I would never take her into the grounds. I have stopped taking her purely because the kids will not leave her alone she ends up being surrounded by 5-10 kids at a time all wanting to stroke and pet her.

ALso doif peoiple do take there dogs near to schools etc then they should be oon a lead no matter how well trained they are.

(saying that when I was al ittle girl we had a black lab who got that used to coming with my grandad everyday to pick me up that when I started to walk home on my own the dog used to jump the back gate (6ft) and would be sittingat the school gates waiting for me to finish then would walk home by myside all the way home. If my grandad ever saw him he would get the bollocking of a life time.

Besides the point, but saw luckylady's post - reminded me that my cat used to walk me to our village school and come and collect me everyday!
