my ten month old dosnt take much interest in her baby milk, but i drink a lot of blue milk and whenever she sees me with it she puts her hands out and wants some, i only just let her try a little bit, is full fat cows milk dangerous at this age? she really enjoyed it!!

There's nothing magical that happens the night they turn one and are "allowed" cows milk.
My understanding of it is that formula is cows milk with some stuff taken out - because it's indigestible by little tummies and ?causes intolerance - and some stuff put in - vitamins / iron etc.

As long as baby still has some breast / formula then I shouldn't think a drop of cows would be harmful at 10 months.

great thanks a lot for that, i feel bad when i cant give her something she wants or enjoys, ill continue with her night milk and morning milk which she does enjoy, but maybe during the day it would be ok to give a little beaker of cows milk? just at lunch or something, because she dosnt like baby juice or anything, she just drinks water, so im thinking a little milk would be good for her x

As I reacall, the 12 month guideline is to do with replacing the main milk source with cows milk. I'm fairly sure that it is OK for cereal etc before then so a small drink should do no harm. Just try to make sure she doesn't then drink even less breast milk/formula as a result.

My DS had cow's milk on his cereal from the age of 7 months when he started nursery. Rest of the time he had breast/formula. He is fine (now nearly 4)

If it's blue, I assume that's full fat? So there would be no harm in watering it down in the beaker.
Mine had little goats milk from about that age and was BF, didn't have any problems.

when he was 2 months old my ds drank cows milk from a bottle intended for an older baby and I panicked and rang HV. She said it may cause a bit of an upset tummy but other than that it wouldn't harm him, it's more that he wouldn't get the nutrients he needed from it if he drank it all the time but an occasional drink wouldn't be harmful - even at that young age.

Of course she could have been wrong but he started school this morning so he managed to survive the experience.

thanks for the advice, some of the health visitors scare you with what they say is bad for them, sorry the blue milk is full fat yes

Cows milk is fine after six months but shouldn't be the 'main drink' until one.
