DD nearly 18 months and has been in disposables to date. Would love to change but don't want to freak dh out too much with complicated double wrapping...have had Nappy Lady advice and it is all a bit daunting, think I'd be better with an all in one stuffable system. Which are best in your opinion? Cost wise is it worth my while changing now or should I start potty training instead?

I found using cloth at that age quite tricky as they start wetting heavily. And I understand that stuffables aren't great for heavy wetters. I would buy a few different types second hand - either off here or clothnappytree.co.uk to try. Not sure which types, I gave up on my Diddy Diapers at about that age as they couldn't hold the wee and never got round to finding a more absorbant type. I'm sure there must be an answer though and you'll easily be able to sell on any nappies you buy so it's worth a try!

I would say it's worth it if you go for something like Coolababy pockets. They are really good value in my opinion and are simple to use especially for DH if you go for the aplix, they go on like a disposable.

Pockets always worked ok for my heavy wetter before potty training. My faves were bumgenius v3 and there are some good deals on at the moment as their new V4 nappy has just come out. We used coolababy too which were ok for through the day but wouldnt recommend for a heavy wetter at night.

I love pocket nappies and bumgenius v3 are my staple day time nappies. You probably have a year of nappy use ahead so it's still worth it and if you are planning on having any more children you will definitely make a saving.
Second hand nappies are great especially if you want to try out some different kinds.
Pocket nappies are very easy to use.
All in ones generally take a bit longer to dry as they don't come apart (although some snap together) and again are easy to use.
My current favourite nappy and first out the stash is an Easyfit V2 by Totsbots. It's an all in one but can be stuffed with extra inserts if necessary.

I second BumGenius v3 and Tots Bots Easyfit! Not a fan of Fuzzibunz, too much adjusting.

BumGenius Organic are great, they're all-in-one so ni stuffing and have poppers so they should last ages. Take a longer time to dry though.

skippingturtle · 09/09/2010 12:41

Oops, should have said no stuffing.

Just seen that your LO is 18 months old. Another reason the TotsBots ones might work for you is that they're a bit larger than the BumGenius, so you might get that extra bit of time out of them, particularly if your LO is a lovely chubby one! Smile

the bumgenius v4 is designed to fit for longer (fit bigger toddlers) than the v3 following customer feedback.
My DD1 is potty training and still fits a v3 easily if needed. She is 2y5m and has been 12kg for the last 5 months.
