Leaving my DS to go to work!

I left my DS (7 months) with the child minder for the first time today when i went back to work. Everything was fine this morning, he wasn't bothered about being left at all. But when I went to pick him up he burst into tears and was inconsolable for about 20 mins. This isn't the first time this has happened, he's done it when I've picked him up from relatives a couple of times as well.

Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone have any idea why he does it? It's quite upsetting and i can't help taking it personally.

I can't remember why they do this but all 3 of mine have and the nursery said its very common, its almost like you coming back is really overwhelming, try not to take it personally its actually them expressing how much they've missed you or as beer says that they didn't realise you'd gone till you came back. If it helps as mine got older they stopped doing it/it got much less, my youngest is 14 months and doesn't cry if I pick him up as soon as I arrive, he takes real offense if I don't.
good luck, going back to work is tough, hang on in there x

Seemingly the hold in their emotions until they are with their mums/someone they trust
