Does anyone else receive these?
I opened one yesterday, to find a round-robin e-mail about potty training, advising that babies can be clean at a year, dry at 18 months and out of nappies at night by 2 or 3 years. Bizarre.
I e-mailed back to say that this unaccurate advice doesn't really reflect the reality of most parents' experiences and to ask what the purpose of sending e-mails like this is.
I received a reply this morning talking about not wanting parents to miss the optimum window for potty training and containing this paragraph -
"Single-use nappies allow parents to ignore their child?s needs to be clean and dry. Normally parents ignore naughty behaviour to stop the child getting the reward of attention for naughty/silly behaviour. It?s very effective. But when the parent suddenly decides they want the child to notice, it?s a problem."
I e-mailed back saying, in effect, "eh?" and received a reply patronising me for making a difference by using cloth nappies and a repeat of her earlier e-mail.
I know that I'm procrastinating working
, but I really am uneasy about a agency promoting reusable nappies spouting such clap-trap.
Goodness, I sound like a loon now I've read it through, but I'm going to press 'send' as I've typed such a long e-mail.
