You are NOT useless! It's perfectly natural to mind when several demanding people interrupt peace and quiet Doesn't mean you don't love them!

JoolsToo · 31/08/2005 20:57

quite normal!

although its a long time ago, when my 3 went to stay with my mum for the weekend it was great and my heart swelled when they came back - for about 5 minutes then it was business as usual

you'll get over it!

Methinks you need a break.

is it not bed time?

gigglinggoblin · 31/08/2005 21:07

mine are exactly the same when they get back and it is horrid. i always spend the time they are gone missing them and thinking about my darling angels, wondering what they are doing and then they come back in full on demon mode. i sympathise.

Don't feel bad. They're nightmares when they get home because they're pleased to see you. And children are lunatics - they show you they're pleased to see you in such a way that makes you never want to see them again.

They're testing boundaries. Being at their Dad's is unsettling for them. They're secure at yours, that's why they drive you to the brink and make you long for them to be back at their dad's!

magnolia1 · 31/08/2005 21:45

Although mine don't go anywhere for that long they do go to Mil's or my mums for a night sometimes and I always end up telling them off within 5 minutes of them being home

Just today they went to the cinema and for dinner with Mil and got back at 9pm. They were all told off for one reason or another with Mil looking at me like I am so bad for telling them off

They are in bed now and so is dh, Its bliss

And you are not useless you are Human

No not awful at all!! 4 kids is hard work and caligula is right they were just testing bounderies which they wouldn't bother doing unless they loved you

Put your feet up and have a glass of wine (or 2 or 3!!)

I only have one so it is easy really but I know what you mean.

Whenever I get dd (ie from her dads) I try to get him to drop her off at 5ish so I am busy doing tea and bath routine for a couple of hours then it is straight to bed!

If I get her back at lunchtime I just don't feel ready (pathetic huh?) and may also be a little hungover! I like to have the day to recover and relax and then hopefully I feel refreshed.

With 4 however is v different, my mum and dad used to have us week about when they split and god knows how they felt when the 4 of us returned on a Monday, full of bags, mischief from the younger two and teenage hormones from the us older girls!! Ha, especially i wasn't speaking to my dad for a long time - I bet he dreaded it!
