I am about to start a PGCE and have a few questions for those who have been there and done it: Did you continue to put your dcs in childcare during school holidays. Although I won't be in college during these times will I need the time to study? How much work did you do in the evenings/how did you cope with the housework? Any other top tips would be gratefully received as I am starting to panic

I did my pgce before kids so can't answer about study stuff but:
I still put my kids in nursery during the holidays (though dd is school age now so she's at home) as it gave/gives me time to myself to work or relax and they got to spend time with friends.
As for housework, I sort of keep on top of it but then I only work 3 days a week at school.
Don't panic and best of luck! It is hard work, but so worth it.

I also did mine before kids but have mentored many trainees with children. Yes you will need to work in the evenings & agree that housewk might need to be lass of a priority for you dutring the year. You'll have some work to do during the holidays but obviously it is less intense so maybe you could use childcare for mornings or a couple of days. I worked most evenings aas I do now once DS is in bed. My only tip is to be really organised, set yourself time limits for lesson planning & making powerpoints etc otherwise you can spend hours on planning & making just 1 lesson. Good luck - it is a hard year but very rewarding.
