Your favourite pram / buggy

I am pregnant with dc5 (only just! getting prepared early!).
I am already in a quandry about which buggy to buy. I have always had a double buggy in the past, or a sling when I just had one baby with me (apart from briefly when dd1 was born and I cannot even remember what kind of pram she had now), but now the age gap will be nearly 4 years, so I can get a single! Woo!
I do not know where to start really. I quite like the look of an icandy.
So, what are your favourite prams?
Ideally I want something rear facing and with a carry cot for newborn stage.
if you let me know what has been a success with you, I will have some idea of where to start with all this!

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out buggies and strollers to find the best of the best.

Hope this helps! Flowers

I have an icandy jogger. Only one DD so am a relative novice when it comes to prams.

So, my thoughts...

I'd get a 4 wheeler, not a three wheeler. Because the length of the pram from front wheel to back wheels is quite short, the jogger (3 wheeler) is prone to tip if you walk across a hill.

When I bought mine (nearly 2 years ago) they only did black, but the new colours are nicer.

I've had no problems with mine, but it is BIG and CLUNKY to from about 10-12 months I traded down to a silver cross pop.

No complaints, but if I had my time again I'd get a bugaboo

I had a M&P Pliko for DC2 as I also had a good age gap and DS was walking. It was great as had a pram option and an integral toddler step for DS when he got tired.

Worked for us..

I am still in love with my Bugaboo Bee 6 months later.

I have had countless prams with my four but I now have a bugaboo bee which I adore :)

Flighttattendant · 29/08/2010 15:55

My favourites have been the mountain buggy and our Emmaljunga proper pram.

I would have the emmal again for the first 6-9 months (huge shopping basket, buggy board) and then swap to the MB.

Good to have an XT or something in the boot, as well.

Flighttattendant · 29/08/2010 15:56

I've had almost 60 btw. Those were the best! Some were good, some really rubbish...

I have a Baby Jogger City Select which I love in single mode but it is a double sooooo

The best pram I had was my Britax Vigour 3+

Never used the carrycot for it as Ds was too old by the time I got it but it was really light to push, easy to steer, huge seat unit which reclined completely flat, parent facing.

If I didn't need a double I would most certainly have carried on using this one for Ds2.

Roo83 · 29/08/2010 21:31

I love my bugaboo cameleon-it has a good size and very comfortable carrycot that is easy to remove and take indoors if baby is sleeping. Absolute dream to push, and very easy to steer (even in mud/snow). Once converted to a pushchair it can be parent facing or face away, which I found brilliant as depending where we were/what we were doing it was easy to switch around.

I'm about to have number 2 and am sticking with my bugaboo (still in lovely condition) and a buggy board as didnt want to part with it for a double!!

I love my Bugaboo Bee - faces both ways, comes with a newborn papoose which my DD loved (so snug, like being swaddled), baby can lie flat or upright, narrow and light and can turn 360 degrees in a tight squeeze, can pass through narrow Tube ticket barriers and squeeze into tight spaces on buses, looks FAB. My DD is 2 now and I still use it - looks like we'll be able to use it a good long time. Metal frame extremely robust.

The3Bears · 31/08/2010 09:57

I loved my Bugaboo used it til ds was 3 The only pram I used. Still in great condiition though so i've kept it dont think i'll ever be able to part with it. It was such a great pram, only annoying thing is now there are bugaboos absolutley everywhere Hmm

Silvercross Sleepover pram. had it for DS1 over three year ago and currently using with DS2. can't imagine using any other pram.

Rockbird · 01/09/2010 11:18

I still adore my first love, my iCandy Apple, bought in the days when you got both the four and three wheel option in the same package. Stuck with the four though, it looked very unstable with three. But the seat is huge and lovely and comfy looking, the seat was easy to reverse, even with the child in it! It steered like a dream and the seat is nice and high up, unlike the Bugaboos which put the baby down near your kneecaps.

tummytickler · 01/09/2010 13:48

Thanks everyone, loads to think about and research.
Rockbird - i had thought the Bugaboos looked quite low, especially the Bee.
lovechoc - I haven't seen a Silvercross Sleepover - will look now.
Thanks everybody else - I am going to look them all up later on tonight and sit with dh and see which ones we are going to try out!

Maclaren Techno XLR (with carrycot for when they're little). It's light, easy to fold/open, decent sized seat, comes with loads of bits (head hugger, footmuff, seat liner) that are all washable, folds flat... My only gripe is that the shopping bag is a little inaccessible, but apart from that I love it!

Species8472 · 01/09/2010 15:41

I love my iCandy Cherry travel system.

Great with the carrycot from birth, pushchair later on (can sit facing you and facing away), and with Maxi Cosi carseat. Easy to push and steer (I did hear of problems with wheels but I think this was a while ago and they sorted it, I've never had any problems anyway),decent-sized basket underneath, and comfortable single bar (I don't like the ones with two handles). When we got ours they only had red/black and a sort of beige colour, but they have other nice colours now as well.

trixie123 · 01/09/2010 16:03

icandy cherry has been great but not if you might want to go on public transport as you have to remove the seat/carrycot bit to fold it. Also make sure you always line up the little black lines on the side brackets before removing or inserting the seat. The blue colour is lovely also.

Species8472 · 01/09/2010 18:11

Yes, I agree the Cherry would not be a good choice for using public transport, I haven't tried....! Luckily I can get just about everywhere on foot.
