Tooth extraction dilemma

My just 5 yr-old has an infected tooth. Dh took her to the dentist today and dentist said it was best to extract the tooth under sedation. Dh came to discuss with me. In the meantime she has antibiotics.

Anyone with any experience of this? I'm worried about the effects of removing this tooth (incisor I think) on the alignment of her permanent teeth. I amnot clear whether it is realistic to expect to keep the tooth uninfected in future or wether the risk of further infection is too great (I've asked dentist to call me back - but who knows how long that will take and I have to go out later).

I'm horrified about this. And it has repercussions for our other major issue - treatment of dd's consitpation which has been going on for 2 years. Before that, there was little sugar in her diet. But now she sometimes has long periods of lactulose, always fruit juice, fruit with syrup or honey
(only way I can get her to eat it), and sweets as a treat if she does a proper poo. She is determined to withold but is very motivated to get treats. Unfortunately we are now seeing the reuslts of that.

I'm going to have to cut out the sugar but somehow. And her poor teeth Sad All this because she just doesn't like to poo. It doesn't hurt. It's just 'uncomfortable' Hmm

Anyone used a space-saver in a child this young?
