I have tried to cheat before and even cheated when I was a little girl but not when I was 5!!! Is this normaAre they clever enough to think of that? She surprises me with some funny attitudes sometimes that get me worried. She is kind and sensitive to the feelings of others except her little sister but sometimes she shocks me.
It is almost impossible to cheat with the dice but then she told me she was trying to cheat by shaking the cup in a particular way and later she said moving yourself up more than the number you got is cheating which means she had thought of it???
Maybe it is normal? Please is it?

I would think it is perfectly normal.

My dd is fantastic at inventing new ways of cheating at snakes and ladders. She sits there looking like butter wouldn't melt....I don't let her win ALL the time though...Grin

normal, when ds and i play cards he goes into another room to deal and then hands me my cards. Imagine my surprise when he wins straight away!

DinahRod · 24/08/2010 13:16

It's a sign of intelligence...or so I like to console myself Grin. DD a criminal mastermind in the making.

Thanks everyone...

Some of these responses have made me laugh out loud. WWATT your ds is clever!!! It is true they sometimes look so harmless Portofino.

Are your kids 5/6 though? I felt so afraid/desperate yesterday when she did it. At first she was winning and consoling me 'wholeheartedly' for losing and when I was ahead in last game, she tried to cheat looking so sad.

I hope it passes with time...

DS1 surrepticiously (sp?) holidng on to the radiator. Hoping to get a temperature and not need to go to school he said.

Portofino · 24/08/2010 18:35

Testing boundaries is certainly right! Dd tries all sorts on e.g. "Mummy, at the holiday club they told us we MUST bring our scooter/rollerskates/water pistol tomorrow"

I have had to have several little chats about lying being worse than anything.

Portofino · 24/08/2010 18:37

And yes, dd is 6 - it certainly started a year or so ago.

bamboobutton · 24/08/2010 18:43

i've been a cheater/sore losing board sweeper for as long as i can remember.

i can still remember the white hot rage i felt at losing at mousetrap. and the telling off for flinging the whole lot across the room. ahh, good timesGrin

i'm banned from playing board games now.

AlgebraRocksMySocks · 24/08/2010 18:44

well if it's a sign of intelligence my 3.2yo DD is clearly a genius :o

Sammiez · 24/08/2010 20:13

Hahahahahaha soooo funny now.

Portofino She told me once that her best friend said she wanted a tinkerbell fancy dress from her for her birthday only for me to find out she made it up just so they could both have it as she has got one.

The boy trying to get a temperature from a radiator beats them allGrin
