The pop in nappy and nappy rash

Last week I bought my dd a reusable pop in nappy.
She is 7mths old now and dh and I are both sick of lining the pockets of the huggies company.

The problem I have is that after using it over night, she has developed mild nappy rash. It doesn't seem to be bothering her. She never had nappy rash with disposable nappies. She is back in disposables at the minute Angry

Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem with the pop in nappy or nappy rash following a switch from disposables to reusables?

also should we just preserve, try another brand of reusables or stick to disposables. We are all Confused at the min.

I've always found that disposables give mine the rash! Are you using the overnight booster that comes with the Pop In kit? It might be worth trying a fleece liner as that way all the urine will pass through the fleece and the fleece stays dry to the touch leaving less urine next to the skin.
You could also try a fleece pocket nappy for night which is lined with fleece hence all the moisture being kept away from the skin. My best combo for night is a Nature Babies Essential (£9.99) with a prefold as the insert.

We had been trying her with sainsburys Eco disposables and wipes around the same time, so maybe that contributed,

Also she is teething, but is very happy, not grizzly and has not needed medicine. We were very surprised when we noticed the tooth coming through due to no teething symptoms.

Yes we have used the overnight booster. Maybe it is just one of those things. I will try using it again and see how it goes.

As rosie said a fleece liner is good rather than just paper liners as it keeps the skin nice and dry. It could also be the teething causing the rash, dd gets horrible nappy rash when teething but never at other times. I doubt a different type of reusable would make a difference, it is more about what liner you have.

I use these for overnight and DS bottie is sometimes a little red but not a rash. Pop a fleece liner in see if that works. Are those the only reuseables you've tried?

Mummy2Bookie · 18/08/2010 11:14

Yes this is the only reusable we have tried. I have a cushy tushie too but am waiting until her rash fully heals before using that.
Are the fleece liners reusable? If so, are they easy to clean and keep stain free?

Yeah reusable, can make your own with fleece blanket. Ive done this and any that are badly stained i throw.

Wellbalanced, thanks for the advice. I will try this out and report back. Thanks again Smile

I have bought dd some fleecy liners. No rash back Smile. Have also bought a tots bots nappy. They feel so soft. I have been told by lots of friends that they work well.
