My 3 month old dd has been eating and sleeping like an angel until last week when she now barely catnaps in the day and wakes between 3 and 4 am for a feed ,I have tried giving her a bit of baby cereal in the evening which she does seem to take a few teaspoons from, but in the mean time I am shattered and suffering from pnd which is making life such a struggle atm ,any advice gratefully received girls!

err,you have been very lucky so far...
she should be waking at least once during the night for a feed as her tummy is so small.
i think i probably wouldnt give her cereal as she is sooo young, and her tummy is really not ready for it.
although some may disagree.

have you tryed a baby sling or carrier during the day,its the only way my dd would sleep for the first 6 months, just pop her in and go for a walk.
this will pass by the way.Smile

oh and im in hampshire too, where abouts are you? Grin

thanks skyeplusbump ,this is my 4th baby would you believe ?! I think because of the pnd I just over panic over every little change in routine and the tiredness makes it worseConfused ,I live near alton ,and you?

Hi ditzy, Have you seen your GP regarding your pnd? Could you get some help from Homestart?

How is your dd feeding in the day? It is not abnormal for a baby of this age to wake in the night. Does she like to be swaddled?

She is a bit young for baby rice so if it is down to hunger just give her more milk.

Some mums do find a sling helpful. I borrowed one from my local breastfeeding group.

thanks sailorsgal I am on meds for the pnd but i hadn't thought about homestart to help out will try and get in touch with them ,have since spoken to my hv today also and going to try a proper routine for her which i have to write down to keep track of feeds /sleeps and i will try the sling thing too Smile

Fellow Sleepless Hampshire person here!

DS is 4 months and is waking 4-5 times a night, rather than his usual once.
I think it's a growth-spurt though. Do you think this could be the case with your DD?
This too shall pass!

skyeplusbump · 17/08/2010 19:39

hi! im nr andover...i have plenty of slings for you to try/ask lots of q's about if you like Grin
i have a dd who's 2 and expecting ds in a few weeks so i am very likely to be sleepless soon too! Grin

ditzyprincess · 18/08/2010 10:11

Hi skye ,thanks for the offer of a sling i don't know which one is best to try? are you selling them?
re : growth spurt I know the advice is blw at 6months or more now instead of the 12 weeks it was advised to wean when my 14 dd and 13 ds was born ,but she just snacks on milk during the day 2-5 oz max and catnaps and i started a new bedtime routine last night and she screamed for 2.5 hours and then woke at 3.30 am and 6.30 am again for a couple of oz milk ,i wouldn't mind so much if i had a more supportive family and my husband is a shift worker and has zero patience for screaming babies so I am getting a bit desperate Confused
