This morning is the 2nd morning I have used www.magicwhiteboard.co.uk/magic-blackout-blind/order/ on my sons bedroom window. Took the blind off this morning and the window has cracked from top to bottom even though they state that their blind is suitable for double glazed windows! Obviously it's not Angry

but its just a static sheet isnt it? how did it crack it?

Reading the safety page, apparently it can cause stress to an already damaged window - but I don't understand how exactly.

Also the bit about 'allowing the window to breathe' is very Hmm

Very strange.

To be fair to the company they straight away said to get it fixed and they will cover the cost.

I think it's something to to with the blind being black and attracting heat so it's the heat that has cracked the inside part of the double glazed window. The Magic black out blind is supposed to keep the heat out hence why its ok according to them to use on a double glazed window. As far as I'm aware/can see the window had no damage. They were fitted 5 years ago so relatively new.

LeninGrad - is that along the same lines at the baa baa blind? (which we have)

Think we'll go back to the Easyblind. We had been using this but the Velcro was starting to come away. The Magic blackout blind was ideal in theory but I wont be using it again.

The company who makes it have been great, said they would pay to replace the glass.

It's still a worry that it is being sold stating that it can be used on double glazing. I wonder if they've had any reports of this happening before Hmm

this is easyblind website

It basically velcros around window. It had been up for about 12 months so the Velcro was starting to come away. I bought black out material and double sided Velcro locally to replace the easyblinds one but the Velcro was rubbish. Easyblinds have their own patented Velcro i think which is much better.

I was going to order a new easyblind but stumbled across Magic Blackout Blind which looked so much simpler and good for travelling etc. I had a glazing company out today to quote for fixing window. They said that they doubt the window was already damaged/weak as they've been in for over 5 years so would have cracked before now.

The things you do for a good nights sleep Grin
