Hi
Its a bit of a silly one really but all the same its really upset ds this morning and he has cried about it despite the fact he is 9 years old.
Ds has a best mate at school and they spend alot of time together after school and I take them out together in holidays etc.
There is another lad in the same class who my ds and his mate are friends with as well although neither my ds or his best mate spend any time with him out of school.
Ds goes to soccer club every saturday and during the holidays he is going today.
This other mate from school goes as well.
Well the problem is this ds's best mate chooses to go with the other mate from school and ds wants his best mate to come with us.
I am only talking about a short car ride where they are dropped off and left but still the actual going togehter with his best mate seems to mean alot to ds.
I have told ds its silly to get so wound up about it there and there isn,t anyhting I can do about it.
His mate is arranging this himself when he finds out this other lad is going.
When this lad doesn,t go we take him.
Ds has been really upset and angry this morning about it I do feel for him but what can I do to make him feel better about this.

Presumably the best-friend is riding with Other Boy to see a bit more of Other Boy, who he never sees out of school/club?
Does your DS not get that at all?

You could offer to set up a rota where one parent takes all 3 boys.

My advice would be to stay out of it. Console your son of course, but that's probably where I'd leave it. Friendships are very important at that age and things tend to go tits-up when parents offer advice or try to intervene. It's not really that surprising your son is upset, because it's very important to them.

Perhaps a bit unorthodox what I'm saying, but kids tend to work things like this out with time.
