Feed again after vomitting?

First topic on here, hoping you can help!

I have a 9 day old baby, normally a good eater but today she has thrown up 2 full meals within 10 minutes of finishing. The most recent time, she ate about 2.5oz, then about 10 minutes later and after much fidgeting in her basket, she threw the lot up.

Now, she seems like she is hungry again. I'm just wondering whether we should now feed her to settle her but risk her being sick again, or whether we should wait until when her next feed was due, or whether there is another alternative?

PS we are bottle feeding.

Thanks in advance

You might want to get her checked out for reflux if it keeps happening... My DS2 was really bad in the early days when it comes to throwing up. He would throw up a whole feed. I usually wait 15-30 minutes and give him another feed again (maybe not as much as before). Hope that helps. They do outgrow it (eventually!). Congratulations btw!

Thanks angel, just giving her another feed now and will try keeping her more upright for an hour or so after she finishes to see if that helps.

Congratulations!

My DD did this (but was slightly older) I found that nobody gave a damn unless they had any other symptoms. So in our case it didn't distress her, she didn't scream, continued to gain weight etc etc...

Just very messy! She never really wanted another feed if she'd brought one up.

I think you need to watch her for her signs - if she is unsettled and seems to be hungry then definitely refeed her, if she doesn't seem bothered then leave it a bit before the next feed but do feed her if she is hungry before the time you would exect her to be

(Sorry my full stop doesn't work :))

It probably looks like the whole feed but almost certainly isn't and so long as she does keep putting on weight and isn't unduly distressed it probably is just one of those things. My DS was very sicky but didn't have reflux - we were advised to try and feed slowly and in a fairly upright position throughout. Afterwards we'd put him in the bouncy seat so he was at angle for a while also. Just have about 50 muslin cloths to hand!

Sometimes it just happens like this she may have been a bit windy if she gulped her milk she might be a bit mucousy and the milk lay heavily.

If she were my baby Id be inclined just for the next few hours to give her small amounts often.
