leaks every night

DS2 (8mo) is in Nature Baby poppered nappies with booster and Nature Baby wrap for night time ... and is soggy every morning. It all seems to fit snugly at bedtime, and he's in a sleeping bag so can't really be pulling at them. Right side seems to be worse than the left!

Going to try prefolds with booster and Cotton Bottoms wraps but am open to suggestions.

Only occasionally had this sort of problem with DS1 using the same nappies (the joy of washables!) DS2 feeds more at night than DS1 at the same age, but probably only one extra feed.

Don't really want to buy any new ones tho.

Have you considered a fleece wrap or fleece shorties? They aren't very expensive and are great for using a night - we've never had a leak with fleece.

Also you'd probably only need 2 if you wash every other day as they are practically dry when they come out of the wash.

Hi Ziggy,

No I haven't - I'll look into it though, as the prefold + cotton bottoms wrap wasn't any better. Can you recommend a brand? DS is long and skinny build.

Thanks

I like the Babysmalls shorties that Babybots stock but I've also used Tots Bots fleece wraps and Pumpkin Pants fleece soakers without problems.

Junior Joy prefolds come in different thicknesses and if you are going to use them in Cotton Bottom wraps remember not to tuck them under the flap. Prowraps work well in terms of not wicking with prefolds too.

I have found an answer without spending a penny (pun intended). Found some plastic pants in the back of the cupboard and simply bunged those on over nappy and wrap - job done! Will look into your recommendations too tho.

Thanks all.

I'm glad you've solved the problem by using plastic pants. I've always used terry squares and can honestly say I've never had problems with leaks. The key is getting the boosting right, particularly at night or with a heavy wetter. It is also important to get the right size plastic pants and to make sure all the nappy is well tucked in to avoid wicking. On the subject of plastic pants, I've never been able to understand some of the criticism of them I've seen on different threads, because there are good quality ones on the market at reasonable cost and if used properly have no ill effects.

Hi Jeanybeeny - actually the ones I'm using are technically too small, but they fit nicely round the legs which is where the leaks occur, so I'm going to keep with them until the leaks start again.

Now, if I could persuade him to feed less at night, leaks might less of an issue!

The leaks should'nt start again if you've got the sizing right and the plastic pants fit nicely round the legs as you say. From my own experience it's better to have pants on the larger size to get good nappy coverage. If they're too small it can cause gaping at the leg and waist openings and then you will definitely gets leaks.
