How did you introduce baby into sibling's room?

dd is 3, ds is 10 months and still in with us, but we'd like him to go into dd's room soonish.

At the mo he is fed to sleep and she is storied to sleep. Currently they are put to bed separately and on occasions where i have to put both to bed when dp is out it's tricky as they keep each other awake.

So, thinking ahead, any tips for dual bedtime strategies?

i tend to read stories to the elder 2 whilst ds3 potters about the room. settle them down, then boob ds3 to sleep and put him into bed

thanks.

was there anything special you did to prepare your eldest when they first had to share their bedroom? did you make it into a special thing or did it just happen? and how old were the babies when they joined their sibs?

I moved mine together when dd2 was 6 months and dd1 was 26 months.
I used to bath them together, dress dd2 on bathroom floor and feed a bit while dd1 splashed a bit more, then dressed dd1, put her in bed and sat on her bed feeding dd2 and read her stories until dd2 was asleep.
DD1 was very excited about dd2 moving in, I put some extra toys and books in and told her she was very lucky big sister etc etc.
Watching peppa pig helped as they share in bunks and i have promised when they are older they can have bunks too.

Now they are 2.10 and 4.6 and they play together before bed and when they wake up, it's the only time of the day they aren't trying to maim each other tbh. last night they fell asleep in teh same bed, tonight they have swapped beds for some reason

i think we just talked about it for a few weeks before it happened. about how when the baby was big enough he'd share the room and ds1 helped us get it all ready

we did a make-over thing, and ds1 chose the (bunk) beds and covers. ds2 was 18mo at the time and didn't really care what was on the bed as long as he had a big bed. In other words, double bribery.
Until then ds2 had been in the very tiny nursery (boxroom)and we were expecting dd but the boys didn't know that at the time. They just thought they were getting a treat, being able to share a room and get twice as many stories. A point which we now wish we hadn't made as much of a fuss of, five years on!
