Rash from reusables...anyone know what it is?

My dd has been in bumgenius for a month.

In the past few days she has had a rash where the waist band sits and where they go roung her legs. It's just lots of little red raised bumps. Doesn't look like nappy rash to me.

Anyone know what it is? I haven't changed washing powder or anyhting so i am stumped.

bumgenius can hold on to detergent more than most nappies, try give them a strip wash

I read on the Baba Me facebook page (they are the European distributors of Bumgenius) that Ecover often causes problems with their nappies - just a thought.
You need a very little amount of detergent to wash them, a 1/4 or 1/2 of what you would normally use for a load.
I haven't had to do a strip wash for mine and I've been using them for 2 years. Our water is soft though, I don't know if that makes a difference ?

I just use a tiny bit of non bio. I don't even know if our water is soft or hard!

Have let her go without a nappy alot of today and it seems to be clearing up

Do you get a furry build up on the inside of your kettle? If so you have 'hard' water. Detergents lather up differently depending on the type of water. I remember trying to wash my hair in Iceland and the mineral content of the water was so high it barely lathered at all.
If the rash is going it may well just have been a reaction to the chlorine.

Ah yes we do get a bot of a furry kettle.

Rash has pertty much gone, so i'm guessing chlorine. Have been putting her nappies a bit looser too and giving them an extra rinse. Covering all bases!

Thanks everyone
