IttiBittis for a boy?

Hi All,

Would love to try these nappies (for day time use) as they are so cute but just wondered:

1.whether IttiBittis are as reliable for boys as for girls

2.which might be better for a boy the AIO or the SIO

3.if they stand up to heavy wetting and if not if anyone could recomend a nappy that does which is similar in appearance.

Thanks in advance

Hi joymaker

IMO they are not as reliable as a two-part system but for convenience and lovely fluffiness they are great! I've just started using them on my 12 week old son and despite being sceptical I love them. They haven't leaked yet (up to 3 hours between changes) and even held a little BF poo yesterday so I'm optimistic! I haven't tried an AIO yet, only the SIO.

use both on my DS, IMO the AIO is better. not the most durable nappy I find though, the PUL goes crunchy and the sides of the inserts get rough and scratchy

they look cute but once the novelty wore off and they got a bit worn they were moved to my "when everything else is in the wash" pile

Gawd, I thought this was in the Baby Names section... a bit 'out there' even for me

ziggyf have you been using a 2 part system during the day? if so which one? I'm using bum genius v3 at the mo; though good for containment they seem a bit bulky between the legs on my DS (he is 12 weeks also). Would you say your DS was a heavy wetter?

oneortwo I must say I am a bit put off by 'crunchy...rough and scratchy' (How many washes before this happened?) but I was thinking of only getting one or two, maybe three max and a few more inserts for changes i.e the SIO can you elaborate please on why the AIO is better (I gather you have had experience of both?)

adair lol!

joymaker - I've been using a few different nappies during the day but mainly bamboozles with Rikki wrap. Completely bombproof, I've never had a leak even with explodapoos after 10 days of no poo!! He is a heavy wetter but bamboozles have been great. I love the bamboozles stretchy and have been told that they are even better than the originals.... As for the Ittis, I think the problem with the PUL was a known fault which has now been sorted - shouldn't get any scrunchiness after washing now!

10 days without a poo... then KABLOOEY!!! Lol. (Sorry)

I have one that I bought in October last year, that started shrivelling up a month or so ago and just got worse, think another one on the way out too. Am returning it to main supplier (green baby) who are great, I had a full set of mediums and never had any problems. It was just a rogue lot. I have recently bought some new ones and noticed they now have batch numbers some are tucked under black label on SIO's and some are inside and on the inserts. So I think these are safe.

peachybums · 31/07/2010 21:22

My DD soaks right through them no matter how hard i try they just didnt suit so i sold the lot. Shes a heavy wetter but even after just an hour and half her legs were soaking

ziggyf · 01/08/2010 17:37

That doesn't sound good peachybums! I guess some nappies just don't suit some babies? I never got on with bumgenius, they leaked like crazy with both my boys but I know some people swear by them.

ziggyf · 01/08/2010 17:38

And yes LennyW, when they happen they are quite an event!!

joymaker · 02/08/2010 00:00

peachybums that must have been really anoying and what I dred.

mumface and peachybums have you had experience of just SIO or with AIO and SIO?If so which do/did you prefer?

My DS is quite slim and long so I also wonder about the fit.

ziggyf If bumgenius have a good enough absorbency for my DS maybe it means that ittibittis will be fine on that front then

hopefully! i'm going to try an AIO Itti this week and am tempted to try a V4 BG - anyone know when they come out?

mumface · 02/08/2010 10:06

My mediums were all SIO's my original larges were AIO's (now replacing with SIO's) because I do prefer those now. However when my 3 year old was still in nappies I preferred the AIO on him as they are a bit stretchier and more generous, couldn't get an SIO on him.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 02/08/2010 17:21

ziggy the v4's came out about 10 days ago ish....

ziggyf · 02/08/2010 20:38

Oooooh, thanks nappyzone - what do you think of them?

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 02/08/2010 20:42

its good they now come in snaps, difference in velcro ones are very subtle but will improve it i suppose. Not sure about the new colours but some seem to like them. Bumgenius are a very popular nappy and the flips are becomming popular also.

ziggyf · 03/08/2010 10:04

I have problems with leaks with my LO (13 weeks) and had the same problem with my older son when he was in nappies. Just wonder whether the V4 would be any better? I found them great for out and about but needed to change them every hour or so. I'm also not sure about the new colours

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 03/08/2010 10:42

every hour or so is alot - could try boosting them with a thin piece of hemp.
