16m DD hates pushchair rain cover - any ideas?

My DD 16m absolutely hates having the rain cover on her pushchair - if I try and put it on she screams and screams. I have to say I don't blame her - she's never been one to sleep in the buggy and likes to see out. Is there any alternative to either just putting up with the screaming/taking it off and letting her get wet? I live in a very rainy city and she can easily get absolutely soaked within a couple of minutes.

waterproof overalls! a bit of water won't hurt her, unless its the middle of winter when she might get a bit chilly. After getting wet a few times she may be more inclined to put up with the raincover.

OK maybe I'm being a bit PFB here but I live in Scotland and when it rains it really really does rain. you don't just get a bit wet, you get absolutely soaked. And we walk a lot. So I guess I was just wondering if anyone had come across any alternative rain protection solutions. Over sized umbrellas? Cosy toes type things that are made of waterproof material?

You can get waterproof cosytoes. I have found them very effective with the hood of the buggy up, but that is only if the rain is falling at a certain angle IYSWIM.

I found ds1 would hold an umbrella in the puschair. The combination of that and a waterproof cosytoes worked ok for us.

If you're prepared to invest in a new buggy, the out n about nipper 360 has a large hood that keeps most of the rain off (though trouser bottoms and feet will still get wet!)

You can get those all in one rainsuits from togz and various other makes. They're not cheap but quite good for jumping in puddles and over warm clothes in the winter snow. I have a vague recollection of my dd being like this for a while but it was just a bit of a phase. Has she always been like this?

Mine hated the cover too. I got an all in one rainsuit and just used that. I had a blanket too if it was really cold.

how about these cosytoes/buggysnuggles

here

and here

You used to be able to get these waterproof poncho-type things, that the kid's head stuck through (with a hood), and the rest attached to the buggy...if that makes any sense at all!
I considered trying to find one for DS when he was a similar age but never got round to it. He mostly got wet.

None of my kids much liked the raincovers either, we used waterproof buggysnuggles plus waterproof jackets for the bits sticking out. We are in Scotland too, so have tested them to desstruction vis a vis rain! The best prams for us were those with really big hoods, those kept the worst of the rain off in the first place, baby jogger city mini double has been great for my twins.

Meant to add a link, we had this one except the inside was khaki and cream stripes instead of the multicoloured: www.thatcuteage.com/p1372-Buggysnuggle-Super-Khaki-Waterproof-Warm-Stripe

Cagoule, wellies, walk.,

Many thanks for the suggestions everyone - much appreciated! Besom - she's always hated the raincover, I've given up on it being a phase after almost a year! And AlexW unfortunately she's not walking yet, she's delayed by a hip problem she had earlier. But waterproof buggysnuggles look great.

When my DS used to try taking off the raincover, I would just stop and say "we are not moving until you allow me to keep the raincover on you". He would wait for few mins and as nothing is happening, he would allow to put the raincover so we can walk further.
Now when DS refuses to hold my hand, I would say the same - mummy is not going to move until you hold my hand. And eventually he comes and holds my hand.
I haven't invented anything better to keep him under control...

Let them get wet its not exactly cold at the moment. Chose your battles I say.
