16 Week Old DS doesn;t want to sleep anymore in the day...HELP!!!

Hi!
We have a 16 week old DS, he's been on GF's routine since 2 weeks and has been amazing. He seemed to really love it, and we could set a clock by him.
Over the last week, he has stopped sleeping at lunchtime! He'll go down for 30/45 mins, then wake screaming and we simply can't settle him after that. Its really odd...as if someone has flicked a switch. I know that sleep patterns change around 3 months, and i'm sure that is contributing, but we need HELP!!!
The rest of his routine is still ok, he goes down around 7pm, we wake him at 10.30pm for a feed, then he'll sleep till around 6am (although he has also started waking a little from 4am and needing re-settling). He has a 9am sleep for 30 mins and that is fine.
He does have a dummy, but we're not sure whether or not to use the crying down method at his age - lots suggest it is too young? Has anyone done it successfully at this age? I'm sure he is having a problem with re-settling, but he is teething too.

Are we just expecting too much? Or have we broken our son?!! Any advice / or anyone had the same?

Thanks
Liz

It could be the teething or (sorry to say it) maybe that is enough sleep for him. Every baby is different. If you work out that its the teething you could try giving him calpol to see if he will sleep longer. Personally I wouldn't try the crying down method with a baby this young but that's just my opinion.

Sleeping from 7pm til 6am at 16 weeks??! All I can say is, nope he's not broken! haha. You are very very very lucky .

Could it be a growth spurt, they tend to be a bit harder to settle and seem to wake up crying a lot when they are going through them. Other than that, he's probably just telling you to adjust his routine a bit, they change constantly. Just when you think you have it sussed, they throw a spanner in the works and it all changes!

My 20week (I think!?!) old only 'cat napped' for about a week 2 weeks ago. Maximum 40 min nap throughout the day!! Now back to 2 really good daytime sleeps, and no probs at night. During that time he also cut 2 teeth So, don't worry! Changes to routine are very normal and the wonderful gift of hindsight will no doubt explain it all in a few weeks
