DD is almost 5 and gets up at around 6am most days. We live in a small flat so no stairs, on days where we have to get up for work/school she'll get in bed with me and watch tv until 7ish when my alarm goes off. On days when we have nothing to get up for, I leave some cereal out for her the night before, she makes it herself and watches tv in the living room until I drag myself out of my pit get up.

I should have said, I am always up before 9am.

DS1 is 21 months and wakes up between 7 and 7.30 which is earlier than I'd like but I guess is relatively civilised for a child.

DC2 will be born on Tuesday and I'm sooo scared that he or she will be an early riser!

DSD is 4 and she is an early riser (roll on dark mornings again) She is up anywhere between 5-6.30am. She isnt allowed downstairs to play, we have a stairgate up, but she has a few toys in her room and she has learnt to press the play button on her DVD player.

She comes in and wakes me up, I see what time it is, if it is pre 6.30 shes either gets into our bed, wriggles around then goes to her bed again, if its after 6.30 then I usually get up with her

4 yr old DS
8am ish on preschool days - often has to be woken. 9am -10am in holidays when he wakes by himself.
The child has only ONCE bothered to get out of bed by himself in the morning, normally he lies in bed calling for Dh or I or playing with/ singing to his cuddly toys.

For those of you who train kids not to wake you until a clock shows a certain time, have any of you tried changing the clock so they think it's 7 but it's actually 7.30 or 8?!

DC1(5) - Silly O'Clock (went to bed at 8pm).
DC2(4) - Later than Silly O'Clock (bed at same time).
