Introducing knickers and portable potties???

Hi
I have been potty training my dd1 for a week and a half and she has been 100% reliable for the last five days (wees and poos), but only if she is going commando (lol). However I have been putting her back in a nappy if we have gone out and for her nap at lunchtime and obviously overnight. Today I put her in her 'big girl knickers' and she had an accident and then didn't want to wear another pair. She has made it to the loo everytime since. Has anyone any advice as to when to try again with the knickers and how to go about it?
Also how useful do people find the portable potties? Initially she would not go on the potty at all and prefers to use the toilet so I bought one of those fold up seats for toilets to be prepared. As she now uses her potty too should I consider getting a portable potty? DH thinks I am mad as we have a potty, potty chair, folding toilet seat, plastic toilet seat (useless as moved around so much) and one of those seats with steps incorporated so that she can go to the loo independantly (she loves this and this and ditching the knickers was the breakthrough initially) already. . For info dd is 2.5 and we use cloth nappies which she doesn't like to wear anymore yay.

Go on then...I'll have it!! . I may as well go the whole hog and have every piece of potty training kit and it will be useful for car journeys.
I will have a look at the clothes left too and CAT you. Thanks.

I've been having this problem too - DD wets when wearing knickers but manages to make it with nothing on. Although she was trained but regressed after 2 months and this is where we are now. She doesn't wear nappies at all - I take a lot of changes with me and she is dry all night as long as i lift her before i go to bed. She is starting nursery next week - cringe!!!! Will try the loose trousers thing for a while - I also make her remove her own wet clothes and she gets stickers when she does manage to make it to the loo. Most off the time I'm making her use the potty/loo which she does but if left to her own devices she'll wet unless of course she is bare.

It is difficult not to get frustrated with them isn't it. DD has been very good for four days with knickers on but the novelty seems to have worn off and now she is pooing in them again. She is no longer interested in the stickers either . Never mind we will get there. I think you are right not to go back to nappies and just to expect the accidents I guess. I am so paranoid about going anywhere though it is getting quite restrictive.

Yes it is very difficult not to get frustrated and cross with them. DD is a twin nearly 3. DD1 doesn't have any problems and gets as frustrated as me with DD2 as it means having to drag her away from the park etc to change DD1. However I think I might have had a breakthrough today! They were at MIL today and I asked her to let DD1 & 2 blow out a candle every time they used the potty without having to be promted, and it worked - hope the novelty doesn't wear off though! They love blowing out the candle and can't wait until the next time. I'll have to get a smaller candle for my handbag though lol! The only accident we had was when she had just woken from a nap was grumpy and fell. So that's not bad. Will let you know how thigs go with the candle. BTW I read about the candle on here somewhere so thanks for that!

We have finally had a breakthrough!! DD hasn't had a nappy on for two weeks and we are having at the most one accident a day many days none - yippee!! We bought a pack of balloons and every time she used potty without being asked she gets a new balloon, house looked like a party for a week but now she doesn't ask for balloons anymore and dp has popped most of the others a few at a time so dd wasn't tooaware!! Definitely helped her wearing loose short/trousers, she is now managing knickers but I got some a size bigger so they are a lot easier to do. She did however go to the childminder yesterday and caught her poo in her hand as she did it and gave it to childminders daughter who apparently wasn't very happy with this- can't imagine why!! I think it's just a matter of perseverance and being brave enough to go out without nappies! Don't give up there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Pmsl!!!! Oh I can just imagine the childminders daughters face

Katie is 26m and has been kind of potty trained for 2 weeks. She done her 1st poo on the toilet yesterday!! But she had started on the carpet which one of her sisters trod in it

Wee's are ok haven't been out without a nappy yet!!!
