fuzzi bunz- what are the wraps like, velcro or poppers?
ds had great fun with the velcro on one today-just glad there was no poop in there and that he could only manage the wrap and not the nappy.....

misdee · 20/08/2005 21:58

they are a pocket nappy which you stuff with an insert. www.babykind.co.uk sell them.

i like wee-notions with a ME popper wrap, or a ovebums wrap but are bulkier than pocker nappies.

maisiemog · 20/08/2005 22:02

H Chatee, what are you trialling, and how do you find them?

misdee · 20/08/2005 22:03

babykind do trials.

hi mmog ,yg and misdee,
i have a tots bots , motherease and a prefold(is that correct term?) and only started out yesterday but chickened out and used a disposable this am when he normally poops and guess what- he didn't and saved it for after i had just put the tots bots on him

Well done chatee, cloth is great once you get used to it.. Do you have a pop in booster for the meos ? I guess at 18 months you would need this. As misdee said the motherease airflow wraps are good and childproof. I love my tots and fleece wrap at night, again boosted now ds is older. The poop really isn't that bad either .

chatee · 20/08/2005 22:22

hi bensmum3,
i have been meaning to trial for ages but just haven't got round to it.do you think it is worth it financially at this stage as ds is definetly my baby(iykwim)

Hi again, I'd say yes, I've got some unused meos and wraps Iam going to advertise for sale cheaper than buying them new, and lots of other people do this too,so you can get a bargain if you look, and you can always sell them second hand after you have used them.
Some people think it helps potty training using cloth too, as baby can feel that they are wet, better than in disposibles.
I do think if you are going to use cloth though you either need a tumble drier or enough nappies not to have to wash everyday. I've used them since ds was born and only wash nappies every 3 days.

Hi Chatee,
Are you using the velcro (or more correctly named aplix) version of TotsBots? How do you get on with the poppers on Motherease?
I think the nappy you will need will depend on the shape/height of your ds - like some people find Motherease fits until potty training, some find it too small and need a bigger nappy. If you end up buying another size, you may as well treat Motherase as a sized nappy and compare it to other sized nappies. IYSWIM?
How heavy a wetter he is, how easy he is to change (mine is a nightmare at 9 months, please tell me it gets better! )?
Who else is involved in changing - like I think some nurseries/ partners/ relatives find some types easier than others?
Whether you fancy a few different types for different occasions.
Whether you want a thick nappy for nights only, or you don't mind a bit of bulk during the day as well.
Whether you want the cheapest option (normally the least luxurious)
What drying facilities you have
That's the kind of thing to consider
Confused yet.

hub2dee · 22/08/2005 00:14

maisie: don't know if this might help your changing nightmares ?

Gski just gave me loads of nappies to try so I will be turning to all of you over the next few weeks I guess for advice, and also doing a trial probably with eco-babes .

kath4kids · 22/08/2005 13:03

I've only used motherease but they are brill. Have to be honest use disposables at night.

Try this site , they have a questionnaire that matches you with your ideal brand, and the service from the store was great too.

We have used Kooshies (not good), Tots Bot fleece (), and Stuffables ().

A new one in the market is HemPresto!, I have never used them but they were developed by a friend and I know how much effort and research she put in, they might be worth searching for too.

maisiemog · 22/08/2005 14:10

Hub - haha!!! I would love to strap Poglington to the mat, he would loooove that!! He would probably wriggle until his arms and legs came off and 'then' escape using his teeth.
Ask away!
Peachyclair - if that's the Nappy lady site, she will probably tell Chatee to buy Mother-ease one size and Totsbots - although I could be surprised (I doubt it).
Those hempresto nappies look good - anyone tried them??? (curious expression - no emoticon available !?)

hub2dee · 22/08/2005 15:06

LOL, maisie. He may wriggle away, but resistance appears to be futile: full straps plus a rigid backboard means Pog ain't goin' nowhere fast.

misdee · 22/08/2005 15:25

hub, check out wee-notions, they do a tiny new born nappy now. they are enough to make me broody!

Bagpuss30 · 22/08/2005 17:07

I am fairly new to cloth but have bought some MEOS Organic nappies which I am totally in love with at the moment. They seem slightly better on absorbancy than the standard unbleached and are 100% cotton rather than the regular MEOS which have 15% polyester. I also have unbleached tots, sandy's and some organic flat terries and have found that they are all good in different ways.

Have just read that back and realised that all my nappies are unbleached - bit of a theme going on here perhaps , must make an effort to buy something different methinks .

hub2dee · 22/08/2005 17:24

Bagpuss: just buy a litre of bleach, hey.

Will look misdee. Very worried for Peter if small nappies make you broody. LOL.

maisiemog · 22/08/2005 18:23

Hub haha! That's very helpful of you.

Pupness · 22/08/2005 20:43

There is a useful organisation called www.nappylady.co.uk who do a very detailed analysis of your lifestyle, ie drying facilities you have at home, concerns regarding environment, comfort etc and then advise you on the best nappies to buy. We used them before ds was born and they were fantastic, asking our height etc so that they could gauge the size of the baby. They are always on hand if you need advice and sales aftercare and the service is free. I hope this is useful - sorry if someone has already mentioned them.
