Hi All, have read all the Mumsnet reviews, gone on loads of websites, but wondered if anyone had any advice on the best reusable nappies, or if anyone has recently bought those starter packs, or knows of any good deals going??

I posted a message on facebook asking mum and dad friends of mine for recommendations - was quite perplexed at the reaction 'don't bother' 'too much work' ,'too much hassle' - really??? I am not sure how or why exactly? Doesn't it just mean the washing machine is on more?? It's not exactly like in my parents day when my mum had the big squares boiling on the stove and I nearly stabbed my cousin with the massive pin, is it?? or am I being hopelessly naive (first baby on the way!!)

I want to do it for the cost saving and the benefits to the environment - I KNOW that it can be argued that all the washing is bad for the environment but surely better than burying them in the ground for ever

Prove them wrong by posting loads of cute photos of your new bubba in cloth! It is easy- you are right. A lot of people don't realise how cloth has moved on.
Some are as easy to put on as a disposible like Tots bots Easyfit and Bumgenius (some good deals around on v3 as v4 just been launched)
There are loads of good websites around: Fillyourpants, Nappyzone, Babykind, Green me, Twinkleontheweb, Kittykins, Nappyzone, Jabula, Babame, Cheeksandcheries... I could go on.. and on. It can be fun and a bit of a hobby too if I'm honest

I loved the mothercare reusable nappies! Easy to use and wash etc. You'll need a nappy bucket too (I forgot about this!). They often have offers on with £10 off a starter pack normally £34.99 ish.

Great thing is you can use disposable liners in them for trips out etc

Good luck x

Buy a couple you like the look of and once you've used them a few times, buy a set. I love Itti Bitti D'Lish nappies, I bought them from Twinkle originally but I know lots of people sell them now. They are the slimmest fitting nappies (I think) and are really easy to wash, dry, and economical too. I'm just about to put them on DS2, after 2 years of using them on DS1. You're not naive at all, you'll save yourself a bunch of money and feel a little smug at saving your rubbish bin from being filled with disposables.

Or you could try a 2 part system like these Bambinex which some people find more reliable Babybots
I would advise trying a few types first before buying a whole set to see what suits you and your baby.

Always happy with bumgenius. good websites, kittykins, cheeksandcherries and I think fill your pants have a sale on bumgenius at the moment.

No, it's not that much more hassle. You'll be doing plenty of extra laundry anyway, you won't notice an extra load every other day

I like the totsbots ones with velcro, they are shaped just like disposable nappies so they're dead easy to put on. I also have the ones with the nippa (sort of like pins but more baby-friendly) but I don't get on so well with those.

The totsbots wraps aren't great, I much prefer the motherease ones- not as leaky. I also prefer fleece liners to paper ones, the paper ones just end up all scrunched up.

But really you just have to try a load and then find which ones suit you.

Fantastic, thanks Mums for such a positive and helpful response!

I will take advice and look around at those makes and websites (must admit I love the fact they have called the website 'fillyourpants' ha ha )

Right, I'm off to scour the internet for some bargains!
