Sleeeeeeep issues, 13mo

Hi all

DD has been sleeping 8-7 (well, we did have a couple of weeks of 8-4 but that has been resolved) since she was 9months.

Suddenly she's been waking up in the night and the only thing that seems to get her back to sleep is BF.

I am knackered.

How can I get her back to sleeping normally without "crying it out". I don't want to do that but it's the only thing that worked last time.

Any advice?

I tried giving something milky like weetabix as a supper to fill my DD's tummy before bed. Maybe worth a try?! It worked for mine as I can't let her cry because then it wakes DS who thinks it morning and wants up!!
Good luck

OK. Do you mean after dinner, after milk, then weetabix? Thanks for your help.

May need to experiment, as weetabix is quite high in fibre. It will fill them up, but may result in a 3am poo!

I started giving DCs a bit of supper in the hope of better nights, but my 18mo still wakes at 1am and 4am every bloody night. Sometimes I feed him, sometimes not.

For bedtime snack I tend to give breadsticks with philly, or toast, or muffin. They tend to have tea around 5/530 so it is a long time til breakfast otherwise.

I find it really hard to settle him without BF, because he knows I can BF him. He will settle for DH though, so I am sure he doesn't need it.

But he smacks my chest and lunges for me so it's hard not to feed him sometimes, especially when it works. Gah.

Tried weetabix as DD's favourite food! Luckily she didn't need it for long and did try other things. 3am poo?! Wow thank god that never happened I'd have been gutted

I gave supper after dinner but before bedtime bottle. It worked here but obviously not for Moaningminnie, 1 and 4am every night, now that's not funny!

Could teething be an issue?

Well, I think the problem stems from a disrupted weekend. We went away on Friday and arrived at 11pm, she was awake and needed to be fed to go to sleep.
Saturday was a wedding, wouldn't sleep so we had party baby.
Back on Sunday, woke up at 11.
Monday woke at 12 , etc. Last night at 1. I think it's more of a habit now than hunger, but I think if she's full then maybe that will help???

You do sleep better on a full stomach, but it doesn't take long to disrupt a routine does it, why does it take so much longer to get it re-established!!
