I am using bumgenius on my dd. She has got a bit of nappy rash, i know you cant use oil based creams but does anyone know of one that would be okay?

Or any other way to stop it?

I have been changing her very often and letting her be without a nappy on for a while each day.

Try Weleda calendula cream. I used it on both my DCs and it is FAB - they never suffered at all. My cousin has also used it on all 3 of hers, all of whom used cloth nappies and it was her that put me on to it.

Lots of people on here recommend the Waitrose one - bottom butter I think it's called, but it brought my DCs out in spots.

We use Sudocrem and Metanium with our Bumgenius and have not noticed any problems.
I also regularly wipe over her bottom with plain olive oil, from when she was tiny - it's really nice and does not seem to ruin the nappy at all.

if you use a paper liner then the worst of the cream should rub off on the liner rather than the nappy.
I love the calendula cream from Weleda. DD1 likes to put it on when she gets an 'ouch' so we don't just use it as a nappy cream, we use it for all sorts of cuts, bumps and grazes.
Metanium is vicious stuff (excellent for healing sore bottoms) but stains everything in sight. I would only ever use it with a disposable nappy.

When my dd was born, the midwife suggested using only olive oil (no water) for nappy changes for a while. She never had nappy rash. We we also did this with ds, and he's never had nappy rash despite having eczema on other parts of his body. If you spread it thinly and use fleece liners, it shouldn't affect the nappy at all.
