No funding ... do what should I do in Sept/Oct

I will try to keep it concise.

  • Have spent this year completing 4 modules in readiness for my history degree. It is a Certificate prog at the uni.
  • Have secured my place on the degree to start in Oct.
  • Just found out I will not get the funding I was expecting as we happened to earn £3000 more than last year.

So question is

  • do I go ahead with degree (over £2000) which can be done but will make things very very tight as I had thought I would be entitled to funding.

or

  • continue on the Certificate prog (another 4 modules, which incidentally arent available on the degree). It is taught at first year under grad level anyway.
  • If I do this I can go straight into year 2 in 2011 (if I maintain an average of 60% in my essays).
  • Cost £900

Either option I will be taught at the same level, at the same university and the timesclae is the same.

Also pregnant (due March) so whilst I can still continue my degree I will have exams in May and June which I wont have if I continue on Cert as it is assessed on essays.

What would you do?

I would defiantly go for option 2 just because of it being essay based. Sounds like the Certificate prog would be far more flexible, which is what you will need with the baby on the way.

Congratulations and good luck

Thanks Mia. Everything with the degree is all fine but the exams are the only element that worry me at this stage.
