what kind of changing bag do you have?

i have a great big thing from mothercare which is great as i can fit in nappies (cloth), bottles, food, spare clothes, toys etc etc etc

this was fine while i had my big pram as it just hung over the handle.
but now i have a pushchair for ds and i have nowhere to hang it!
i can just about stuff it in the basket underneath but that isn't ideal.

i don't particularly want to carry a massive bag... i kinda liked having the pram to hang it on and not having to carry anything!

so what do you use?. why do you love it? will i end up with 2 bags? one to shove under the pushchair full of nappies etc and one to carry with my phone and purse etc?

oooh, we've got this really cool one called 'glacier baby' and it's an all bells and whistles changing bag that also has an insulated cool area for bottles and food and turns from a bag into a backpack if needed.

Can't believe the amount some of you will pay for a changing bag. When we had DS we bought a rucksack style changing bag that matched the pram. It was rubbish. It didn't close properly if it was full and wouldn't hang off the pram anywhere very well. So we then bought a small Addidas black rucksack (handbag size really) which we used from about 10 months for DS and from birth for DD (who managed with a lot less stuff than DS). For several months now I have just managed with a largeish handbag which I hang over the pushchair or my shoulder if DD (15 months) is walking.

Went on the purpledudahs site and so changing bag packs. What is the point of them really? And £35? for a few nappies and wipes and a couple of bibs.

starlover · 18/08/2005 12:29

the point of it for me is that

  1. i am lazy and don't want to carry it myself

  2. it needs to attach to the handle of my pushchair without slipping down because if it's in the shoppin basket there iwll be no room for shopping

  3. i have a LOT of stuff to carry (ie big cloth nappies etc)

sorry that sounds really snobbish...
i am a sparkly, tutu-wearing fairy... and rucksacks just don't go!

I stick my handbag over the bars of the pushchair and only carry 1 nappy. Leave 2 in the car. Suppose it might be different if I was on public transport. As for the rucksack - I have never worn it, just stick it in the bottom of the pram/over the handles of the buggy. I saw that clip on one but didn't see how it would not affect the balance of the buggy in the same way that hanging over the handles does.

starlover · 18/08/2005 12:35

but i don't have 2 handles... it's a loop kind of handle iyswim... and if ds is facing me then anything i hang on it will slide down!

Was the one that changed into a mat the Gr8* one - will find a link.... one of my friends as it and its quite funky but the one I'm thinking of is a rucksack really....

SL - Have emailed purpledudahs to see if they can get the bigger skip hop bags as had second (or third) thoughts about the expo - the expandable bit could prove useful. That was a couple of days ago though and haven't heard back...

The Gr8* bags are on purpledudahs too but you can't link direct to a page so its under changing bags

Will do !

Bozza · 18/08/2005 12:41

If you have a hangbag with a long enough strap it will loop over the handle - my big pushchair/pram was like that.

starlover · 18/08/2005 13:07

yeah but it slides down the handle.... when i had the pram that was fine because it rested on the pram body.
but if i have ds facing me then it slides all the way down and rests on his feet!

Purple Dudahs have come back to say they can't get the expo/dash but that new designs will be in at the end of the year.... So I am off to order the duo from JJMB (and if its not big enough by the end of the year I can get the expo then !)

Starlover, I have the same bag as Jimjams and a one-handled pushchair, and as it has one long strap I bring the strap up the middle of the handle and loop it over from the inside which holds it on the pushing end of the handle. It's hard to describe, it would be so easy to show you.
