Would Anyone Pay over £100 for a special birthday party?

Tell me what you think!

A friend of mine who is a trained dance / drama teacher wants to go into business staging children's fantasy parties. She'd need to charge £120+ to make it work.

For that parents would get venue hire, 1.5 hours activity with costumes, props & performance for parents on stage. (for up to 30 kids)
Wouldnn't include food / party bags etc.

Would any of you (or people you know) be prepared to pay that sort of money? Or would any of you consider sharing party / splitting costs with a friend?

Thanks for helping her research xx

Sorry, meant to say, not touting for actual business. She's just researching the idea at the mo. Ta. x

Yes! Party entertainers are frequently paid this much and more - people can and do pay. I've paid more than that a few times.

Kewcumber · 11/06/2010 00:08

thats about the going rate for a party entertainer in London - can't speak for the rest of the country.

hmc · 11/06/2010 00:08

Best research is to visit some sites and see what their charges are. Look at 'once upon a party' in Eastleigh for example

katycarr · 11/06/2010 00:09

I don't think I have ever paid less than that, £120 is infact a bargain.

hmc · 11/06/2010 00:09

I meant of course websites - rather than an actual in person visit to their HQ!

Lynli · 11/06/2010 00:10

That sounds very reasonable, here it would cost most of that to hire a venue and entertainment about £130. Lots of HSM parties.

williewalshsballs · 11/06/2010 00:11

yes. sounds like good value

LovelyDear · 11/06/2010 00:13

yep, that's fair. sounds good.

katycarr · 11/06/2010 00:16

My dd would love that kind of party, where will she be doing them?

TheCrackFox · 11/06/2010 00:20

That sounds great.

Oh yes, I have many times over the years, I paid over that 5 years ago for a farm party for my youngest ds.
I paid £275 for his 9nth birthday limosine party and I put on food after.

thanks for your positive responses folks, I'll let her know. Out of interest, any of you care to say where you live ie. city / London based or not?

Katycarr, she's based mid Wales / Midlands but is looking to go nationwide later. Do send me a personal message if you'd like to follow it up. Thanks.

I'm London based and the last children's party we organised cost more than that (although did include food) so it sounds like a bargain to me!

huffythethreadslayer · 13/06/2010 17:26

I'm in Sheffield. If a party costs less than £150 it's a steal. Mind you, dd does normally insist on the whole blardy class coming!
