I'm looking for tips on how to cheer myself when I get a bit down in the dumps. What do you do? All ideas welcome!

i make a list and start tackling it...

Chinchilla · 12/07/2003 21:59

Coddie - lipsticks do it for me too! I get an extra boost if it comes from Christian Dior. However, due to tightened money belt, a Collection 2000 lipgloss hits the spot too!

Also, lots of Maltesers, or a 49p cone from McDonalds...

I need to watch a good romantic comedy ... Bridget Jones ... Jerry Macguire ... When Harry Met Sally ... Four Weddings .... you know the sort of thing.
Talk to someone who you know will make you laugh (we have a friend in the UK ... our best man ... who has no idea that the only reason I ring him is 'cos he is such a wally he just cracks me up!!)
Have a lovely warm bath with bubbles and candles ....

Spend a while on mumsnet.

Curl up with DS and watch a video on the sofa, always guaranteed to bed lots of kisses and cuddles whichmake me feel good.

lou33 · 13/07/2003 18:24

The eighties night I go to with Spacemonkey is in Colchester, Essex . I had a look round my way (Surrey) and couldn't find anything. It's such a great night I travel over to hers to see her and we always make it on the night it will be on! Last time the local pub was doing special prices on doubles too, £2.50!! Shame you don't live closer, next time we are going to tempt Crunchie and Chinchilla to come too!

whymummy · 13/07/2003 18:31

Maybe. Keep the first friday of every month clear just in case!

Enid · 13/07/2003 20:12

Ring a friend; go and see a friend; buy myself a tiny bottle of champagne and drink it in a hot bath with Jo Malone Basil and Lime oil (in the bath, not the drink); go out with a girlfriend (and no kids); organise something in the future to look forward to (party, holiday, day out, trip to London to stay with friends); do some exercise; go and dig furiously in the veg patch; go to health food shop and buy a bottle of Jan de vries Mood Essence; get dp to cook something spicy for supper and bring it to me on the sofa while I watch Buffy/ER/West Wing/Location etc/Big Brother; 'sleep' with dp (IYKWIM); go and get legs waxed; write some more of The Book That Will Never See The Light Of Day by Enid.

Enid · 13/07/2003 20:16

Also, now, think of ScummyMummy's twins doing funky kung-fu dance moves

willow2 · 13/07/2003 20:40

A bottle of croft original and half a dozen seroxats...

Enid · 13/07/2003 20:47

willow put them on the table next to your stained vest and Colt 45

SamboM · 13/07/2003 22:23

What's a Seroxat?

Mmmm croft original!

Definitely agree about going onto Mumsnet! Think I will have to join a gym. Food is probably my number one comfort but right now I'm trying to loose some weight!

An exercise class, chocolate, a take-away curry, wine, Mumsnet, shopping on my own, something decent to watch on the telly and sleeping, not necessarily all at once!

M2T · 14/07/2003 11:52

I'm afraid I almost always drink a bottle of wine. Not good advice.... sorry.

oliveoil · 14/07/2003 12:47

Go to Boots and buy lots of smellies. Or Space NK if its payday.

ThomCat · 14/07/2003 13:06

I always ring a friend and sound off and get a hug, works for me everytime. Ask dp for a hug; sit and stare / kiss / cuddle etc at my wonderful dd. Count my blessings and remember my nan telling me there's always someone worse off than you. Come onto Mumsnet, esp if it's special needs related.
hope you're feeling OK today buzzybee.

willow2 · 14/07/2003 16:42

Enid - I'll have you know that I use Napisan in my wash so the vest isn't stained. And it's an AK47 not a colt.

tinyfeet · 14/07/2003 17:31

Before I got pregnant (again), I'd go outside and smoke a cigarette. Now, I call a friend or turn on my favorite music and dance with DD.

bossykate · 14/07/2003 17:53

what do you do with your vest so that you have to napisan it?!

willow2 · 14/07/2003 21:06

I have no idea - but apparently it's dirty going by Enid's standards.....
