Brighton child friendly pub - recommendations needed!

Can anyone recommend a child-friendly pub in Brighton? It's for a fairly large group - maybe 12 adults and 5 children on a Saturday afternoon.

Somewhere with a pub garden would be great - or otherwise somewhere that is big enough that toddlers can toddle about a bit without necessarily being too annoying to the other customers.

I'd be grateful for any ideas!

TIA

Brighton's not great for family-friendly pubs IIRC. You might get lucky in Hove somewhere as it tends to be a bit more spacious out that way. There's a pub called The Snowdrop in Lewes that used to be pretty welcoming for families, but you might not want to go that far...

Otherwise, there are absolutely loads of bars on the seafront, where the adults can sit and eat/drink while the kids muck about on the beach. Kings Road Playground next to the West Pier has lots of good cafes right next-door.

Thanks policywonk

The kids are mostly of the toddler / needing constant supervision type, so leaving them to play on the beach is out unfortunately! A pub seemed like a good idea as it's a contained space.

The Snowdrop looks nice. Too far for this occasion, but I'll definitely keep it up my sleeve for another time, thanks

The Kings Road playground is great too, but it's not really the right things for this occasion. Not all the adults there will be parents - the people there will be friends, some with kids, some without.

I think I might have to rethink this! I did think of perhaps doing a picnic outside the Pavilion instead (it has little fences to keep the toddlers in!) but DP points out alcohol is frowned on there. Not that we're alchies you understand but it would be nice to be able to have a glass of wine.

We need somewhere we can meet, where there isn't too much pressure to spend money and people can all turn up at different times (so a restaurant is out) and that's OK with toddlers. It doesn't have to be a pub necessarily though!

I used to visit a friend in Brighton a few years ago and there was a great pub called The Open House. Had a large beer garden and was child-friendly,IIRC

Goes on a bit about it being a student haunt, but I remember it being very mixed, with lots of kids everywhere (used to go with friend and her DS)

Nice, laid-back vibe in the day from what I remember

Oh yes, I did go to the Open House once but only when the DCs were very small, and it was winter, so the whole pub garden thing didn't come up. Is quite near Preston Park and was v nice as I recall.

Thanks notnowbernard and policywonk.
That looks like it could fit the bill nicely.
