How much to pay a teenager to feed the cat when we're away?

Any thoughts on how much I should give her per day (about two weeks in total.) She lives a few doors down from us, it is just once a day, should take no more than 10 mins tops, more like 5 really. BTW she charges £5 per hour for babysitting so pro-rata that would be about £1 a day - is that enough?

We've never paid anyone for looking after our cat, even when it was our teenage neighbour. We do bring back a present for the cat-sitters though.

£1 a visit sounds fair if she is nearby.

How much would it cost you to put the cat in a cattery? A lot more than that I expect..10 quid for a week 20 for a fortnight.

In my experience, people really don't expect to be paid for feeding a cat. But that's up to you, and if you want to pay her then I should think a pound a day would be perfectly OK.

I would give her £10 and maybe some chocs when you get back.

WWB - I wouldn't expect to pay a neighbour for looking after my cat, but I would pay a teenager as I would think of it as doing a job to earn some extra pocket money.

Yes if it was an adult neighbour I would just bring back a present (which is what I do for the friend who usually does it - or buy her some flowers). But as you say she is a teenager who would appreciate some extra pocket money (and it's easier to give her money than to try to think of a pressie)

i used to do this for a family i babysat for and they gave me £20 a week. i was feeding them twice a day though
