Are there people who 'style' rooms for weddings??

I'm thinking of having my wedding reception () in our village hall...but I really want professionals to come in and transform it for me. Does anyone have any idea whether there are people that do that? What would they be - set designers? interior designers? Does anyone have any idea or is it just a mad dream?

Weird weird weird BK!

Isn't it beautiful? When was your wedding?

sambom, absolutely beatiful! august 98 - five years this year, where has that gone? is five years "something" like copper or tin or something?

Make sure your guests stay close to the venue - a friend was maid of honour to her friend and on the morning of the wedding they awoke to snow so thick a fair number of the guests couldn't get there

Imagine the photos though - thick, white, fresh snow, deep green and burgundy velvets.....

And make sure you aren't near a river. My Dad and stepmother got married on Dec 30th, and we all had to travel from the church to the reception in a tractor and trailer because the road was flooded.

BK - every year is "something" 5 is either wood or silverware. See here for the full list.

Enid - we had to have our reception in the village hall - no venues near would let us do our own catering, and as that's my Mum's business there was no way she was having anybody else do it. It was a pretty ugly buliding, but we borrowed pots from all our friends gardens to decorate the front - bit more difficult in winter but you could use holly bushes, Xmas tres etc. As I said we draped the inside (we had starcloth in the ceiling but love pph's idea) The tables/crockery/linen etc can be very functional, so it is worth hiring nicer stuff. (A marquee company should have the contacts) Also think about the floor - ours was a badminton court so we had it carpeted (marquee company again!) It is amazing what a transformation they can effect - I was quite apprehenssive about it all looking a bit Heth Robinson, but cried with joy when I saw it all done for the first time.

bk my 5th was in May and mil said it was wood and gave us a wooden drinks tray - would have preferred some silverware though!
