Rosa I charge my adult pupils 12 euros an hour each in groups for conversation and grammar practice, can't really ask more atm as unqualified.

Francagoestohollywood · 23/04/2010 22:14

You 2 are very honest, my lovelies. I appreciate this

OP posts:
Sputnik · 24/04/2010 09:22

Yeah, honest and skint

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2010 09:43

I'm so gdhkjlggfashjkgsfkjngfskjhsfg (angry) at the kids. They've just managed to fall out (again) when playing with sylvanian families. How can you litigare with sylvanian families? WHY?

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/04/2010 13:33

well 4x12 is better than 30 !
Bugs still rife so no battesimo for us domani not fair on the baby ( or anyone else). Bit of a pain as I was quite looking forward to it it was/ is a buffet and children can run round etc.
What a pain Franca hope they have calmed down .
Well did MM make it off to India ?..If not yet good luck and hope it is good....
Next installment of casa. Architect gave us a price di consegna with sanitari / finestre etc tutto fatto. Ingeniere who I like more is more expensive. But we pay apart for lavori etc or via an impresa or we give out different appalti. If we do the second it could take longer BUT it will cost less. Ing costs remain the same. He estimates it will cost more overall to do the work than the architect said. My worry with the architect is that we have limited choice of things or maybe they will cut corners to stay within the price. BOh - DH liked both the architect and the ING. We have an impresa coming on Monday to give a rough quote on things on MOnday and they by Monday pm we have to decide!

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2010 13:42

Yes, they calmed down. And dh has just got back and offered to take ds to his football match. So now me and dd are having a relaxing afternoon together (we need to hit the supermarket, though).

Ooooh things are moving along rosa. My friend the architect claims that in the long run is always better to buy stuff through the impresa, in case of problems with deliveries, faulty parts etc.

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/04/2010 13:51

That is another really good point we had not thought of. They do load things ( of course they have to make a profit!)
Well done to dh he must be shattered but glad he made it back ok.
Supermarket sabato pm ....Auguri cara.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2010 14:51

Thanks
I went yesterday with my mother to the big esselunga to do a big shopping . So we've just popped to our local one and it was stress free

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/04/2010 15:27

Its always manic sab pm until the beaches open and then its empty ! But you have to brave the heat to do a shop. New house is adjacent to supermarket but I prefer the Coop that is now further away !!! ( Whinge whinge no contenting some people!!!)

Francagoestohollywood · 24/04/2010 16:14

Oh I wouldn't dare the Esselunga on saturdays..., but our local is ok

Rosa · 26/04/2010 18:56

15 degree diference in 2 days - steaming here...No duvets tonight its sheets and a blanket for later - well the dds haven't done ours yet ! Ralented and bought minirosa a new pair of shoes seeing as black shiny patent seemed a bit too hot .. I bought Primigi for the first time price was good and she seems to walk well I just hope that the heat doesn't give her a growth spurt!
My 1st of a few M&S order arrived today am well pleased dh is very happy with his £9.50 jeans they fit him really well. BUt dd2 swimsuit 4-5 is rather tooo baggy oh well will save it for next year but she inists she wants a spotty frilly one this summer too.......Back to Next and hoping they get some more stock in !

Francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2010 19:10

Oh yes, pleasantly warm here too... 25 degrees. At last!!!! (more rain forecasted though).

Buying shoes for kids is the bane of my life. At least at minirosa's age they have yet to have their own preferences!!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 26/04/2010 20:08

Yes, warm here too.
Am I going to have to as DD says, "get my legs out"?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2010 20:20

. Let me check the forecast first...
Dd is eager to wear shorts (bermuda)

OP posts:
Sputnik · 26/04/2010 20:41

DD has actually had her legs out a couple of weeks now, and arms.
DS on the other hand was very unhappy in short sleeved t-shirt, even though it had Shaun the Sheep on it. He kept bringing me long sleeved ones. In the end I took pity on him.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2010 20:57

It was cold here until last week... and then you know how cautious I'm with spifferi and things...

Awwww bless him. They do have strong preferences at that age on what they should wear, ime.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 26/04/2010 21:08

God only know how I will pry his socks off him when the time comes. He takes his socks very, very seriously.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/04/2010 21:40

You can tell a gentleman from his socks, I suppose

OP posts:
Rosa · 27/04/2010 12:50

DD1 can't wait for short sleeves but today it was cooler again . If it goes back to how it was yesterday then it will be t shirts and shorter leggings - thing is her legs already look like a dot to dot with all the bruises and exposing them even more is asking for more botte!
Ds is showing his true British side with his socks....my dad will only wear sandals when on holiday in the tropics ( at a push flip flops ...but never in the Uk !)

Francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2010 14:00

We had a hell of a thunderstorm in the early hrs of the morning. It kept me awake for ages... so it was cool this morning, but now it's hot again!

My dc too have dot to dot legs, they are spericolati!

In Exeter lots of people wore flip flops or sandals, as soon as it was remotely sunny. I still remember seeing a teenager wearing pretty flip flops, light cotton trousers and cotton jumper on a sunny day... in February ! It must have been not warmer than 7 degrees !

Public health warning coming up:

Guys - please do not think that a med skin protects you from the sun. It doesn't.

I pass for a dark skinned southern italian (and I'm mixed race) and I've already had a few skin cancers (one from my early 30s) removed, as has my (david bowie lookalike)dad. My very dark skinned asian mum is having suspected skin cancer removed next month and her gp is unsurprised which is telling.

ds has his dad's skin(light) with my tanning - he already has quite a deep suntan which he got in March in London. Bonkers.

Get out the sunblock now ladies wherever you are. Do it.

Apologies - I don't want to alarm but sun damage is accumalitive and skin tone and heritage are no guarantee. Sorry but I feel quite strongly about this and it takes a few minutes to ensure that you and your los are safe in the lovely sun.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 27/04/2010 14:56

thank you giveitago. good to remind or inform. any tips on how to spot possible skin changes etc? what is your experience?

re bare leg: the dds have had bare legs for months now - true british style

giveitago · 27/04/2010 15:30

This is in response to an earlier post about shade and looking like they wouldn't be protected in the sun. Pretty much everyone needs protection.

I had a mole that was knew in my early 30's and it kept changing. Being a coward I did zero until I was pregnant and once I could convince the gps to take it seriously they fast tracked me for romoval. But even since subseqent dermatologists have doubted the initial biopsy (my lovely little mole is still doing the rounds in the London hospitals) and done repeated checks on it and it is cancerous (no longer attached to my face obviously!).

Just use sunblock.

Bare legs- well my mum and dad have had issues with the skin on their legs - particularly backs of the legs - mine are mor about face.

But never too young to start protecting the kids - my dad's one they reckoned had been around for years (he lived in south america for a long time). I've also spent months at a time as a tot in equatorial africa and in those days we were running around butt naked. No protection.

I get a new bottle of kids sun block every year and use it on ds and myself.

Rosa · 27/04/2010 19:13

Pippi how are tings ???? I thought of you whilst on my hands and knees in prenatal trying on Primigi and wishing I was in Clarks. They had put the boxes above the clothes so you had to reach up , grab a box spin it round to see the size then chase minirosa who was heading off in every direction ....3 comesse not even a Can I help you ......
We missed the storm but MR has been feeling the tempo or its teeth or whatever all I know is its MMR on thurs and I am dreading the days that follow.....Maybe we will be lucky and she will not react to this ...Wishful thinking me thinks !

Francagoestohollywood · 27/04/2010 21:04

You've never been to Clarks in exeter then Rosa

Giveitago, of course you are right. I do put on sun cream when I'm on the beach, but you are right, I neglect to do so when I'm in the city... off to buy sun cream now (some good offers in esselunga at the mo!)
