Girls night in - great idea, now what do I do?

Took a notion one night to organise a girls night in at my house for some friends - seemed like a great idea at the time, but now that its a week away mild panick is setting in. Have said I will provide dinner, so thats first hurdle - what do I cook that will look good, taste good but not involve standing over saucepans half the night?
Then given that that most are driving down for the night, there'll be no drinks, so what should I organise for the nights craic? Any ideas appreciated!

Thai curry and rice? With fresh mango etc for pud, followed by a box of chocs?

I tend to cheat and buy a paste tbh but try googling Nigel Slater for an easy recipe.

Can't help I'm afraid - my girls nights in involve lots of alcohol and minimal nibbles!

Have googled Nigel Slater, and decided cheating is the more tempting option! Yes evening would be a lot more entertaining if a few bottles were opened......as you can see I really didnt think this through first. Am have already said i will provide dinner....my big mouth

Now that dinner planned (thai curry and rice, then chocolate pavlova for dessert), now worrying about the rest of the evening! Any suggestions to make it a really enjoyable girls night in

If you know one another well, then I don't think you need to worry. If you don't, then you can play the Name Game. Each of you writes down the names of famous people - real or imaginary - on slips of paper and puts them in a bowl. Then you get into teams and you have one minute to try and explain the person on your bit of paper to your partner. It is quite fun

The group is a bit of a mixture- some really close friends and some friends from college days that meet up with just a couple of times a year, but one thing we all have in common is none of us get out much now ! When we do meet up as a group it always out in a restaurant with other halves in tow who you are always conscious of trying to include in conversation, but know rightly they would rather be at home watching the football. Thats where the idea for a girls night in started.

The Name Game is really fun because you always get people putting in someone political and difficult like Aung San Suu Kyi and then the person they are paired with has no idea who they are so they have to spell out the name or do 'sounds like'. If the team haven't finished on a name by the end of their minute, they have to keep on going until the other person has got it. It can be painful
