I am so angry and a little concerned. I was in the newsagents today with my 3 year old ds when some woman told me i should "grow up and act like a mother!". She was objecting to my ds singing along to Good Charlotte on my phone(i have one of those loverly 3G ones that has an mp3 player on it) and the way i was dressed.( anti-fit jeans, white vest top, black converse baseball boots and a black Good Charlotte fleece tied around my waist) She told me that punk-rock was not good for my son(why? Good Charlotte do not swear, dont sing about violence and make some great bouncing tunes!) and that i should dress like a responsible mother. Why should the way i dress and what music i like make any impact on how i raise my son? I told the woman that it was none of her business how i live my life and she really should not judge people she doesnt know. But she made me so angry

OK rant over

I like to think i am doing a bloody good job of raising my ds on my own. he's got ASD yet he is very adaptable, very rarely throws tantrums in public(i get the full attack at home!) and is very well behaved. I've seen some little s*s who's parents seem very respectable so i really don't see how the way i dress has any impact on my parenting skills.

Ignore her!! I don't care what people think of me. Ds's teacher said to me that I am a very good parent and am always happy (well I was till all this kicked off next door) and all the medical people think I do a good job........

my ds used to play rock guitar with a tennis racket when he was 2 or 3. i thought i had brought him up proper, iron maiden etc however hes now 15 and into techno, garage and bass.
