I have just given birth to my third child ( well 6 weeks ago!), my middle child being two a fortnight ago.I was faced with a dilema a while ago, in that i was searching for the ultimate pram, to transport my baby and toddler, without having to buy a double/ tandem pushchair, that would not only have a short life, but unsuitable for me. ( the double ones would not fit through my narrow front door, and the tandem ones extremely heavy with the toddler on the front.

When I had my second child, the first was 2 yrs 7 months, and stood quite happily on a kiddiboard, but I was never in a hurry to be anywhere, and allowed him to step off if he wanted to.
This time, I was faced with the prospect of having to get my eldest child to school on time, with a toddler and baby in tow.
Then all my christmasses seemed to come at once (!!!) in the form of the Bertini steerable pushchair. I am deeply in debt to them!
What a brilliant piece of kit! Lightweight alluminium, - a dream to push- adjustable handlebars,Steerable or fixed wheels that you dont have to bend down to lock, massive comfortable toddler seat, (no moans from Bradley in this one!) Forward or rearward facing pushchair & toddler seat, very roomy for the baby.....and a shelf life of at least 3 years. The only down side that I have foind, is the pushchair taked up loads of room in the boot of a car, and I drive a Vectra, with a massive boot, so this would not be suitable for the average sized car, and is quite heavy to lift in and out. The folding and unfolding, however is very simple, and only takes a few seconds. I previously owned a silver cross wayfarer 3 in 1 that was quite timeconsuming to put up and down.
I know ( since I purchased mine) that it has been voted the best pram/pushchair for 2000/2001

I really wanted to share my feelings with you about this product, add I've had loads of people stop me in the street and ask where they can purchase one, and ask for my comments to see if I am pleased with it.

The answer is Mothercare, although they are not stocking the toddler seat,( I purchased my pram and seal from an independent retaier,) an YES, YES, YES!!! VERY HAPPY!!!

Joolz, after your message, I contacted Bertini for a brochure. Their products certainly look good. On the toddler seat pictured though, it says the max. weight is 30lb. I haven't weighed our 2 year old lately but am sure he must be pretty near this already. He will be 2 1/4 when our new baby arrives. Just wondered if the 30lb was right or if they had another model?. Thanks

Bells1, the toddler seat has printed on th back of the seat a max weight of 15kg, which is 33lb.
My little boy has just turned 2, and weighed 24lb,and is quite big for his age. My eldest son seemed to be 28lb at the age of 31/2, so he would have been fine too.
I am realy pleased with the seat, and Bradley goes in it with ease.

Good luck!,

Julie.

Thanks for that. I just weighed him and my scales tell me he is 29lb. He's not especially big so I wonder how accurate they are.

Joolz

can I ask if the pushchair comes with a raincover or if you can buy one? What about the toddler - do you have to make sure you have a waterproof coat with you for him in case it rains?

I have seen the Bertini in Mothercare and like the look of it. I am, however, getting a bit ahead of myself, as we have only just decided to try for baby no 2, so he/she isn't even conceived yet!

Cerys, I have been looking into this model. There is a raincover which you buy separately and I thnk it costs around £20. I really like the look and feel of it - the only drawback is its bulky size when folded and that it is relatively heavy.

Bells1, thank you so much for taking the trouble to reply. Please let me know if you do decide to get one and how you find it!

Does anyone know where I can purchase a kiddiboard in or near Hackney, E9?
