HELP - Mr Muscle sitting in my plughole and will not budge

Anyone here know about unblocking sinks? Mine was getting clogged and the water going down slowly, so I stuck down a bottle of Mr Muscle for an hour. Followed the instructions on the back of the bottle but it had made it MUCH worse. It is now completely blocked - presumably the Mr Muscle stuff is now sitting on top of the original gunk. What do I do? Do I have to call a plumber or is it something i can fix myself?

OK, I flunked it! I got down on the floor and stuck my head under the u-bend, complete with bucket, plastic gloves etc. And then my knees hurt so I tried to change position and my huge belly got in the way and then I bumped my head and then I had to go to the toilet to be sick (yet again) and finally I burst into tears!

So I resorted to poking down the plughole with a knitting needle and sticking down a few kettles of boiling water - really just to try to shift/dilute the Mr Muscle a bit (had visions of it eating through my pipework overnight). That has improved the situation a little; it's back to where it was before I started sticking products down.

I am now waiting for the nausea to subside before having another go. Or finding a man (any man) to whom I can dissolve in tears and plead, "Please help me, I'm pregnant and all aloooone..." Whichever comes first

Hester - just glad to know that you are Ok and didn't spend the night under the sink (even with a Mr Muscle!! )
Hope you get it sorted soon

Next time I try I may just take the laptop with me, in case I get stuck and have to make an online plea for help.. (can see the 'pregnant woman gets jammed behind u-bed' thread already).

ah she lives she breathes. sorry it's not fixed. did you someone elses lemon juice suggestion or does lemon juice + mr. muscle = nuclear fission?

Sounds like there's something stuck down there. You'll need to put a bucket underneath, unsrew the U-bend and poke about.

You need to use caustic soda. It's brilliant but you have to be carefully when using it.

Ok, ok, I'll be good and get back down on my knees tomorrow. I know it sounds like I'm procrastinating (alright, so I am procrastinating) but by tomorrow I may be a bit less nauseous, plus I have a Very Capable Friend coming over in the evening so if I get into trouble (e.g. can't get u bend back on) she can help out.

Will also investigate caustic soda - have a funny feeling the last plumber to visit may have left some behind...

Am I the most useless woman on Mumsnet? I am desperately hoperful that my yet-to-be-born daughter will be naturally marvellous at this sort of thing and I can set her to work from an early age, sorting out my plughole, rescuing me from spiders etc
