Hi,
My daughter developed a haemangioma in her upper lip, apparently quite a common site.It appeared when she was approx 1 month old,she is now nearly 1,+is under Great Ormond St also. When she was 6 months old it started bleeding, just oozing, but a lot of blood.Very distressing. We always managed to stop it by applying pressure.Approx 1 month later it started spurting-about 10 cm away from her facewith no trauma. We ended up in A and E, by which time she had stopped.Every time we fed her the same thing happened. We went back to GOSH where they removed the top bit where the bleeing was coming from.Apprently if they remove the whole thing she will be scarred forever as it will contract in when she grows. She now bleeds less, just an ooze.It is such a worry as I would be reluctant for her to be out of our sight as it's a difficult thing to cope with.I too have heard varying reports of when it will go, they said it will soften aged 1 and 50% go by age 5.I am worried about her when she starts to run around and at school etc.She is still beautiful though! It has stopped growing and is approx 2cm diameter.Any more advice on when they should disappear?
