July garden - what have you got in bloom?

In my garden the only things in flower are lilies and a Ceratostigma (blue shrub) apart from the bedding plants.

I'd love to have more colour next year, shrubs or annuals. What is in flower in everyone's garden please!

The easiset thing I've ever grown is gladioli from bulb - they're not flowering yet but are growing every day - I think they flower after everything else in the garden. Last year I bought some lillies in pots which we planted in the garden - they are now in full flower and are looking brilliant; all we did was cut them right down after they'd finished flowering last summer. I've got some bels daisies which are just finishing now and always have fresias in baskets to last through the summer. By the way, I know absolutely NOTHING about gardening!

lillies, lupins, solaneum (white climber and purple woody version - last all summer), lavender, costas, poppies, aliums, cape daisys.

I love lavender and I've got a little lemon tree and am trying to grow sunflowers

Iceland poppies, fab lavender bush (inherited, don't know what type, but big, long lasting purple flowers), fuchsias, lurid mauve clematis (inherited), lilies, cranebill geraniums, assorted dianthuses. My nigellas, grown from seed, are about to flower - later than other gardens it seems to me, but I'm a gardening novice. Lots of others round here seem to have roses out too.

Alstromeira - a lovely lily like flower - we have one that flowers from now until sept/oct every year, we then cut it down to about3 inches above ground and wait for it to do it all again the next year

You've all got lavender and I'm jealous! How and where do I grow it please?

Lavender is easy peasy to grow. It likes well drained soil and being ignored basically. Its a mediterranean plant so it must be in the sun, and no heavy pruning!

PS its always cheaper if you buy it down your local market.

we've had a fantastic garden year this year, giving each of the children a small patch of their own.they each have a courgette ,strawberry ,tomatoes and sunflowers and a few other bits and pieces and those little patches are the most lovingly tended patches of ground in SE london. The veg are all starting to produce now and it is really exciting to see them growing. The next interesting thing is to see if it will make them more keen to eat them!!I doubt it...!

Does anyone know how to take a cutting from a climbing rose bush? I want to take a bit of the bush from our old house and plant it somewhere here at the new one. My knowledge of gardening is very limited! Thanks.
