There seem to be a lot of hoax threads here, why don't the hoaxers go out and get themselves a life?

Grrrr.

Actually, for some threads it doesn't matter if the OP is a lie or not. It sparks an interesting debate nonetheless.

... but even "name" sites can do that: how do you know that someone is the name that they have given? You don't even know for sure if they are male or female - or anything about them bar what they choose to tell you.

You will find if you stick around (and respect other people's different view points) that you do get to recognise different people, so you do get a feel for what is a wind up and what isn't.

And no, you can't always tell if someone is lying - but on the thread where you accused someone of it, she very definitely wasn't lying.

This is a discussion board - and that is what we do: there are different opnions, sometimes we diagree and sometimes we agree. But most of all, we try to offer support.

A reminder about the Mumsnet Philosophy:

"A word about our philosophy

This is a discussion forum and we ask you to respect other people's right to their opinions, even if you disagree with them. Our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow. Having said that we will remove postings that are obscene, racist, or contain personal attacks.

Tarantula I hope you know that parachuting is dangerous and therefore grossly irresponsible.

ahh but she said I was either a liar or

"a criminally neglectful, and stupid woman."

hmmm criminally neglectful - well yes it was rather criminal that 2 days ago DS2 fell backwards while standing one of those cheap plastic garden chairs (we can't afford to buy our own nice stuff that we're selling yet LOL) and made his lip bleed - when I was standing in the garden with both of them. And I suppose it was a little neglectful that I simply cleaned it up - and then whisked both of them off to the park to play - letting him climb on the climbing frames just minutes after his 'accident'

"stupid woman" - well I'm a woman..........and maybe not stupid - but still a bit of a dumb blonde at times

oh and as for the "liar" bit - yes I supposed I am when DH comes home and finds the house a tip and I blame it on the boys being pains, or PMT and not feeling up to it

if that makes you criminally neglectful then i am too

left ds in his bouncy chair the other day and he leaned so far forwards that thewhole thing tipped over!

QueenOfQuotes · 01/07/2005 17:20

ooo - how embarasssing - just after writing that last paragraph about 'lying' to DH about the housework............he sent me a message to remind me not to let DS1 have anymore juice (we're trying to night train him)..........he must have known I would be on the computer

If it is against the law then it is criminal, leaving your child alone in a house is neglectful, if you do both these things then you are stupid. Don't see what the problem is with that description.

And I agree, people who change their names just to make contraversial comments should get a life...........but I don't know why you made that comment in my thread. Are you accusing somebody of something?

So, are you a new poster, Cook?

Why don't you introduce yourself with "member profiles" threads and let us know a bit about yourself?

starlover · 01/07/2005 17:42

i am sorry cook, but insulting people is not really accepted on here.

you may want to check out mumsnet's talk policy

Rules and "Netiquette"

When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone. Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions and ideas, but always with respect for the other person

Report
Prettybird · 01/07/2005 17:48

It has already been clearly stated that it was not against the law. And the child was not unattended - at her "furthest away" she was closer to the child than she would have been in her own back garden - and with more "over" as she had the baby monitor with her.

Have you actually read the thread?

So again, please do not accuse someone of being criminally neglectful and stupid, when you do not appear to know all the facts.

You can say that you ouwld not choose to do that - that is a fair point, you make your own risk assesssments, as we all do, all the time.

I point you again to the Mumsnet philosophy.
