I cannot be the only person who can smell snow?

The above says it all, really. When snow is a couple of hours away, I can just smell it in the air. My DH thinks that this is impossible. My teenage DD thinks I am mad. Small DD and DS are impressed as they assume I was raised by wolves.
However, I am always right, whatever the weather forecast says.
I have always been able to smell snow coming. It can't be just me, surely?

I can't smell snow but I do know when it's coming my hair goes very static!!!!

Thunderstorms are navy blue. Fog is yellow.

I also "see" people as colours - everyone I know well has a colour and sometimes I meet someone new and they have a "colour" right away - they almost always go on to become good friends.

I don't see sounds as colours which a lot of people with synaesthesia do. Just smells and people.

ohhh weegie.. snow smell is dark blue, rain is yellow , fog is olive. carrots are brown, potatoes are light green.etc etc.. classical music tends to be sparks of golds and silvers with other colours. ( i do music too).

I don't do people much unless they are wearing purfume/aftershave. I also have colours for tastes of some foods.. but that gets confusing.

Weegiemum, I've heard about synaesthesia, I belive it comes in all sorts of variations.

I can tell when snow is coming, not really by the smell, but more to do with cloud colour changes that I can't really describe, and my hackles do go up in advance of thunderstorms.

I think country people are more likely to be able to smell it, because they are away from city and pollution smells.

can smell snow also.
Smoking at around 100m on a still day
Wonder if being colour blind helps me in this area?

So what does snow smell like?

LilRedWG · 31/12/2009 18:01

I can msell it too - DH thinks I'm a loon and I don't tell other people in case they call the men in white coats. Mum and Dad could to as far as I know.

LilRedWG · 31/12/2009 18:02
