ks - Just deleted what I had written - i don't want to spoil it for anybody else. I will e-mail you through Mumsnet!

Just in case anybody else wants to read it - be warned. It is unputtadownable, and very long. I read it on holiday and actually stayed up until 5am one morning so I could finish a section.

October - yes I have got the whole series and still re-read them. Mathew's death still makes me cry! I've also read LM Montgomery's diaries & found them fascinating, not so different from some of the joys & worries expressed on mumsnet. The way she psyched herself up for the possibility of death during childbirth provided lots of insight into women's fears in the early 20th century.
