Or will they just be a lot of work for minimum effect?

Prob not muslin - maybe cotton sheeting

whynot? as you are stopping the light coming in, so see no reason why they shouldnt work.
and dutains are no brainers, and require little effort. just need a largeish area to lay the material out before sewing, and a couple of hours childfreee to put it all together.
hows your conservatory today?

Lovly and cool - but I'm worried about the whole summer

I'm trying to do ceiling coverings and I'm stuck

I have a pole at each end with either rope or net curtain wire every 2 ft to stop it drooping

Which do you think?

better to have more than less. also i think grey may stop the light better. good luck with your project

KatyMac · 25/06/2005 19:51

OK - so this job is a nightmare

katy, why? whats wrong?
can i help in any way.

KatyMac · 25/06/2005 20:46

I've never sewn 9m of fabric before it's so heavy

when i did my curtains, i found it easier to lay it all out on the living room floor, and did running stitch all round. that way i didnt have to worry about the material moving. but then i was putting two layers together. im not sure what you are planning tbh. also, i put the sewing machine on the floor, and sat on the floor,so eased the heaviness aspect.
could you do that?

KatyMac · 25/06/2005 20:51

I'm just hemming each side with a large hem at each end

I don't think my back will cope with me sewing on the floor.....
never mind - it will all be worth it.....I hope

OP posts:

course it will.

KatyMac · 25/06/2005 22:14

One up 7 to go......

God it was heavy - but I think it looks OK...maybe

OP posts:
stitch · 25/06/2005 22:38

well done. hopefully it will stay cool for long enough for you to get them all up, so you can notice an immediate improovement.

KatyMac · 26/06/2005 17:46

5 up

One room looks OK but the other is wrong - I think I've cut them too long....Bu&&er

I'll try again tomorrow evening
